December 13, 20213 yr Roseman is like a kid in a candy story with those draft picks.......and I question his priorities when it comes to improving the team. He sure as sh--- will be wheeling and dealing. The eagles have created a problem and don't even know if they have the answer yet but are going to add to the problem with the next QB "solution". They are the like the old cleveland browns. And until Lurie takes a step back from selecting personnel and he tells Howie to only follow his scouting department recommendations and not his own, this team will wallow around mediocrity, or even worse, for the foreseeable future. 28-32-1 since the super bowl. The super bowl winning HC and QB gone, the LT QB solution gone, the super bowl winning assistant coaches gone except one. 9-10 different QBs on the roster since then. The idiotic and unnecessary 2nd round drafting of Hurts, the unprofessional handling of Pedersen and Wentz. It's almost like the eagles simply couldn't handle be champions and were desperate to get back to their mediocre franchise ways......

Howie doesn't really have a solid strategy for building a winning roster other than building through the trenches (and obviously QB but no ish, every team prioritizes the position). He only stumbled into success with the moves he made to set up the 2017 roster. His decision making seems to be willy-nilly (take for example last year when he wanted speed at the outside WR spot so he takes a much lesser rated prospect). I have zero confidence he can build another championship caliber roster - he had his blind squirrel moment. Back to the original topic, I do think it is a smart strategy to push 1 of our 1st rd picks to 2023 if the right opportunity presents itself. The QB class overall should be much stronger than this upcoming class - if there is still a need after next season it would set us up nicely to make a move the following April.

I agree with a lot of this and I'm definitely a Howie critic and think he should be put back to the Joe Banner financial role (he'll never be fired) and have no say in the player selections especially the draft. However, this is a unique situation as I don't think they've ever had three 1st round picks. It gives so much flexibility and options and we know Howie likes to make trades. But it could go several ways. I think any GM would want to utilize that flexibility for options. It doesn't appear to be the year to trade UP for some big talent. I also don't like trading back too far because Howie does better picking higher. I hope he doesn't just trade one of them away for a player unless we're talking about someone truly worth it. I think a similar trade as last year would be really good: collect a 2023 1st to give you another year of flexibility or at least more 1st round talent, but still retain a 1st pick that's high enough to get a good pick. Plus the other 2. He could still come away with 3 players in the 1st and a future 1st. I don't know if they want to pay contracts to 3 1st rounders though. Ultimately, I'd love to see just the 3 best players available at just about any position to just add young talent. But if he can also get a 2023 1st round pick that sets them up nicely for next year as well.

This year's draft is loaded with defensive talent, I think I'd be leaning towards using those picks to address that really bad defense. Trading one of the 1st round picks for next year wouldn't be bad if you can get great value for it, this year's first for a first next is a lateral move and not good enough.

Right, depends on which team and if you think their pick next year will be high. It worked out well with Miami's pick (currently #10). It also depends if they think they want a QB next year and gather resources to trade up. I would personally just like to see the BPA at all three 1st round picks and I agree with you I'd love to see at least 2 of those on defense.

Usually I would not be a fan of this when you have 3 first rounders but given the QB situation this might be genius. Obviously it depends how the 2022 draft falls as well. But if the eagles can load up to be in the best position to get Bryce Young, I am all for that. Yeah cuz Tank for Tua and Lose for Lawrence turned up puppies. 🥴

So if you tanked for Tua you would have drafted Burrow if you had the first overall pick. I dont think anyone would say Burrow is a bust. Secondly, how do you expect Lawrence to play well with Urban Meyer his in current state? lol
December 15, 20213 yr If they aren't picking a QB this year, I would much rather they use 2 first round picks and trade one for a lower pick this year + 1st next year rather than use all 3. If they are picking a QB with one of them, then by all means use the other 2 to improve other areas of the team.

He's 6' not 5'10 and he was born in Philly so we know he's tough. However, trading into 2023 wouldn't guarantee we'd get him.
December 21, 20213 yr I’m fine with trading one of the picks for another next year and maybe late rounder this year. But they need some playmakers on d so they gotta start now.
