Operation Whistle Pig: Spying On Americans

Interesting should be surprising but it isn’t.  Also I don’t think Rambo is a bad guy, but for every Rambo you have to wonder who else in there is being abusive.

Not surprising. This is all perfectly legal. Thank the republican party for it who sold Americans a bill of goods that security trumped individual liberty.

So you don’t really think it’s legal, you just think Congress can pass laws in defiance of the Bill of Rights and nobody can do anything except hope to win an election to change it

I think its legal because they passed a law saying it was. And yes I think they can, because they did. Spying on Americans was deemed completely legal and "a small price to pay to keep us safe from terrorism". When I pointed out in this very forum (when it was called "Politically Speaking") that it was likely unconstitutional and at the very least counter to the ideas of individual liberty the nation was founded on, I was called a "dopey liberal" and a "terrorist sympathizer" by the likes of Zuker and other republican boot lickers.

People often opine that it’s not fair that it seems the President is above the law.  But you seem to be saying that Congress is above the law.  Would that be fair to say and is there anything wrong with that

There is "what should be” and "what is”. Of course congress is above the law. What planet have you been living on? They’ve done everything from insider trading to out and out treason without consequence. It shouldn’t be this way, but it is.

So you agree its illegal.

The mafia is illegal too.  That they get away with it doesnt change that

Now all you have to do is admit that it is both parties.

If you’re thinking of natural law maybe you’re right but I was thinking of the fact that the Congress has violated the actual text of the law which is supposed to be the constitution

If there is a point you are trying to make, maybe just come out and say it?

That's what the courts are for. But the courts are flawed too. Raw V. Wade has been the law since the 70's. Now because Trump stacked the courts with religious fanatics, it won't be anymore. The constitution is also extremely vague by design. When it was written, inalienable rights really only applied to white men.
