To be fair to Jerry Jones, he's doing the QB extension right if he has doubts, tagging Dak for the year and signing probably the most steady free agent left, if Dak gets to midseason with career numbers give him the big extension, if he still can't get it done with 2 proven 1000yard NFL receivers and Lamb, let the tag run it's course and bet the farm on Trevor Lawrence, knowing you have the rest of the offensive pieces in place.

Can’t see any possible way the Cowboys can move up to get Lawrence unless they’re a 2 or less win team. At worse the Cowboys are in the teens.

Unless they traded the farm to get him...

is this the type of fine quality thread I should come to expect here ?

I think they would have to give up a truckload and this kid isn’t exactly Manning or Elway. I mean they would have to be fully committed to thinking this kid is a future HOFer and that after them possibly not even playing college games. Before last season started Tua was supposed to be that guy. A lot of things can change. I don’t see the Cowboys making that move.

Better he’s in the AFC than in our division.

True. I've just waited patiently for the cheatriots to suck and don't wanna be robbed of that joy. And I mean more than one season.

I have a hard time believing an egomaniac like Belicheat will lose on purpose. That would be like he’s admitting Brady made him.

I do too. On the other hand they have no QB and have done nothing to address that. Is he trying to prove he is so brilliant that he can win with a nobody taking the snaps?

Change the Title to "The Andy Dalton Plan"

From what I heard that wasn’t by design. They wanted a guy, but someone took his guy.

Worst take I've ever read and that's saying something.

Howie didn't draft Hurts to piss Jerry Jones off.

Not to piss him off - but to hamper the Eagles' rival divisional team.  If Dallas is stuck with a veteran QB at a top salary, it hampers their ability to keep other high priced talent.  This could translate into divisional titles and home playoff games for the Eagles.  I was saying this after he was drafted.

I haven't seen a person outside the Eagles organization who is privy to the team's draft motives.  The front office would never disclose this if it were the case.

Disagree with you- but it would be cool if that's what both teams did, then both realize what they must do next- swap those picks with each other and bury the hatchet for this draft.

Belicheat said it wasn’t by design that they didn’t draft a quarterback. I can only conclude there was someone he wanted, but got taken before he could.

We were talking about the Patriots.

In the week or so prior to the draft, there was a big story out there that the Birds love Lamb.  I think Howie himself put that out there and probably laughed when the Cowgirls took him.  I think they preferred Reagor all the way.

Meanwhile I can't believe NFL.com has Dallas so much higher than the Birds on their Power Rankings.  No damn way.  Dallas may fall behind the Giants or Washington this year.

I hope you're not serious?  Dallas has way too many good players. Whether we like it or not they will be playoff contenders at the very least unless they get hit with several injuries or something.

Remember some Patriots fans were claiming Belichick threw the SB on purpose by benching Malcolm Butler?  It's amazing that people actually think this stuff up.  Yeah the biggest game of the year and let's try to lose it intentionally.......makes sense.

they got rid of some of their best defensive players.

re:  Dak

I totally do not believe this low-talent bum is holding out for Mahones money.

I think Dak is getting bad advice and trying to have it both ways.  Lots of speculation from DAL media that he wants a short-term deal so that he can get back to FA again after the new TV deal, extra revenues, etc come on stream.  If that’s true then he needs to be open to a short-term deal at less guaranteed money — both sides have to get something.

I absolutely do not believe Jerry Jones is low-balling Dak — look at the contracts he just gave to Zeke, Amari, Demarcus Lawrence — all big overpayments.  Dak just has people in his ear telling him "they’ve been giving you peanuts for 4 years, now it’s your turn to get paid”.  He earned the entry-level contract for a 4th round player per the CBA.
