Now I'm not saying there aren't other factors involved, but that sure is and should be a factor when dealing with division rivals. If you are on the fence about a player, meaning you like him and maybe somebody else, if that player is one a division rival covets, that be the deciding factor.

You draft to make your team better not to draft-block divisional teams. Sure you can trade in front of another team to get a player you want that they also might want but the driving factor is to get YOUR player. Getting a player that another team wants is an added bonus not a factor and it doesn't drive your draft board. If it does you should and will be fired.

Lots of speculation from DAL media that he wants a short-term deal so that he can get back to FA again after the new TV deal, extra revenues, etc come on stream. If that’s true then he needs to be open to a short-term deal at less guaranteed money — both sides have to get something. I absolutely do not believe Jerry Jones is low-balling Dak — look at the contracts he just gave to Zeke, Amari, Demarcus Lawrence — all big overpayments. Dak just has people in his ear telling him "they’ve been giving you peanuts for 4 years, now it’s your turn to get paid”. He earned the entry-level contract for a 4th round player per the CBA. he won't sign his franchise tag for 33 million.

You''re missing the point - if you can kill two birds with one stone, why not. Hurts was drafted because the team wanted him. If the team was on the fence, but had inside info that Dallas was going to trade up into the bottom of the 2nd round to grab him as the team's QB of the future, you draft him. If you can make your team and chalk up extra wins by weakening your division rival, that is a valid reason.
May 7, 20205 yr The Dak Plan, get under his throwing arm and pile drive him to the ground on right on his shoulder.

May 7, 20205 yr Possible, but I think its more likely that Doug Just wanted Hurts. I think the injuries and concussion and Wentz’ refusal to alter his style of play convinced Doug to make the move. You’re talking about a QB in Wentz who has not only been hurt a lot dating back to high school, but has suffered three serious injuries in recent years, tore his knee up (not just a basic ACL), literally broke his back, and then a serious concussion.
