Is it time to give Siriani some credit?

I'm not sure yet if he is going to take us to the Superbowl, but he already has done well or exceeded expectations in some areas:

Developing our young players (except Reagor who is hopeless)

Keeping the team relatively healthy

Run the damn ball

Coached well enough to keep the team respectable and play to our strengths

Yes absolutely it is.

I mean look nobody is suggesting he's the next SB winning HC of the Eagles. Nobody is suggesting he's going to be the HC for the next 10 years but he deserves a lot of credit.

He's working with a team who managed 4 wins last year. A team that traded their franchise QB as one of its first acts after he took over as HC and a team that really doesn't have a lot of blue chip talent.

There are question marks about the QB who's only in his second year in the NFL anyway. There is a lack of talent at WR and the defense? Well let's just say it lacks talent and the rookie DC doesn't seem to be much good either.

Running game has been dominant against even some top defenses. It's been fun to watch.

You can thank the Eagles offensive line and running game coordinator Stoutland for that success.

You can, but you can also thank the HC for playing to the team's strength.  If Reid or Pederson were running the squad, no way the Eagles lead the league in rushing.

Liking his play design as well, coming up with some dangerous schemes.

IU say give him the praise he has earned. Nothing more, nothing less. Overall he and the team have won more games than I thought they would, so he's done pretty well directing the team, and has an upside, which is nice.

What does that even mean? Different people will have different opinions about how much praise he’s "earned”. One person may think he’s been amazing, another person may think he’s been terrible, another person mediocre, etc.

Yup, he 100% turned it around. A little late, but he did. Now he needs to get Gannon to wake up and we might make a run, pun intended.

Of course it's subjective to some extent, but it means that it's not a dichotomous choice of great or sucks. It's not yes or no. It means give credit where credit is due. In some areas he's done quite well and in others he needs quite a bit of improvement. It means give him the credit that he has earned. Laud his improvement and point out where he needs to get better. As of tonight, he's leading a 7-7 football team. I think he's got some promise and upside and I'm looking forward to watching his continued growth as a HC/Game Planner/Play Caller.

Overall I think we are seeing how the playcalling and schemes work when players aren’t making stupid penalties, drops, and having turnovers. When players do what they’re supposed to do the scheme works. There was a learning curve on all levels here so we have to learn to be patient with this process. Sirianni took a 4 win team and turned them into a 7 win team with a chance to improve some more. Not bad for a rookie head coach.

And have the Eagles in playoff contention when it looked like for a while the Eagles had ZERO chance of making the playoffs.

EDIT: I have the Eagles winning out and finishing as the 6 seed, playing in Tampa against Brady in the Wild Card round.

What an unhinged fan base lol. All those threads over the week praising Siri and hurts and not even 1 quarter in of the Giants game and it's nothing but trashing both of them lmao.

No. He is about to go 0-2 against the Geeky Giants with 0 offense.

Unpopular Opinion:

If we had a slightly better QB, we’d be 10-5 or better right now, and everyone would be singing Siriani’s praises. No chance we lose to NYG the first time if we do anything right. Then maybe LAC, maybe Raiders, Niners.

Not saying Hurts isn’t the guy, but he’s barely started 1 season worth of total games, and he’s 23. COVID cost him his first training camp experience, and he’s yet to go into an offseason where anyone treats him like this is fully his team, so this is effectively an extended rookie season in my eyes.

He doesn’t turn the ball over nearly as much as some of the busts people compare him to, and he does play really smart football at times, it’s just terribly inconsistent.

For a rookie head coach taking over a 4-11-1 team littered with aging, injured vets, there arent a lot of scenarios where a better coach would do much more than Sirianni when Dallas is potentially the NFC’s number 1 seed.

So at the very least, he earned a year 2 that doesn’t involve the term "hot seat.”

I think this is kind of key. He doesn't turn the ball over a lot and that gives this team a real chance. The fact that usually he can make plays with his feet gives this team an even better chance.

I still believe Hurts was playing injured when they played the Giants the first time.

Today was way more dominant.

His running has drastically tailed off since that Giants game. It is a 2-4 week injury they said, but sprains can linger for even longer than that. He’s still injured, but in a way I think it’s helping him in the long run, because it’s forcing him to use his arm over his legs.

Is that a good thing?

Yeah. He needs to develop as a passer and he won’t do that always running. Also since he’s returned from the injury the Eagles have scored 61 points. I for one don’t see that as a bad thing.

Neh..not yet. Why?The answer: "3 straight passes to start a Giants game".....?!??!?? Was Siri trying to get Eagles out of rhythm??? Instead of making couple of easy check downs, ...or even calling 1 run. In the second half the team woke up.

It is the coaches job to prepare a team, and the first half Giants game,  Eagles Team was abysmal.

I want to see sequential consistent winning game plans, instead of boom bust approaches. Then I will give Siri a credit that he deserves.

One critical element missing from the offense to day was Hurts the runner.  I suspect that it's due to his ankle.  Was good to have the defense step up and take advantage of a depleted Giants team.

He is winning with a RB as a QB so yeah give the guy some credit.
