CaliEagle Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 The NFL owes Madden and the Sabols for being the best ambassadors for the game. 8
Bwestbrook36 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Loved Madden my favorite booth guy of all time. Great football mind as well. 4
Plache Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 He and Pat Summerall were my NFL youth........R.I.P. Mr. Madden. 😔 8

EazyEaglez Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 From football games, to video games Madden was a part of my youth. Sad day for the NFL. 5
FranklinFldEBUpper Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 It wasn't a coincidence that the teams who played in the Hall of Fame game the year he was inducted were the Raiders and Eagles. The league arranged it that way because they were the teams he coached and played for. I always got a kick out of it when fans used to complain about him being anti-Eagles in his broadcasts because it was obvious they had no clue what team he played for. Granted, he was only on the team that one year, and he was injured. But still. I'm assuming Brett Favre will get his rightful share of the inheritance. 1

Jeep_man Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 RIP John.. Madden and Summerall called the best Monday night games and also the Eagles vs Dallas games of the early 90s....
greend Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Madden was a great commentator. I wish he hadn't coached the Raiders though. We were favored to win that Super Bowl

The Madden-Cruiser, his pimped out bus he rode in because he didn't like to fly. I think I saw it live and in person maybe once. 2. Thanksgiving with John Madden, the turkey with like 8 legs so he could give a turkey leg to a bunch of people after the game. 3. The telestrator. He loved that thing and used it constantly. RIP John, it was always special when you were calling Eagle games.

gregbwfc1 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Early days of watching nfl games over here, we'd get a highlights show on Monday night (before we started getting live games). Early 90s, Eagles vs Redskins (can I type that). Comes down to final play and it's basically win and in. Washington on the Eagles goal line, crowd are LOUD. He says "Wow, this place is SHAKING). Really conveyed atmosphere at the Vet. That line just stuck with me. RIP John 1
