It reminds me of the 2001 Patriots.  Brady's second season, first season as the starter after Bledsoe goes down early.  Patriots coming off of a 5-11 season.  They finish 9-7 that season.  Both Eagles this year and Patriots in 2001 beat the Jets, Falcons, Panthers & Saints. 

 

Brady 2001 (24 years old): 63.9%, 2,843 yards, 18 TD, 12 INT, 86.5 QB rating.  36 rushing yards & 0 TDs.

Hurts 2021 (23 years old): 61.1%, 2,930 yards, 16 TD, 9 INT, 87.0 QB rating. 740 rushing yards & 10 TDs.

You must live in a very bi-polar world if you believe the only options are that the team are absolutely trash or Superbowl contenders. Many of us thought they would be a 4 win team, winning 8+ games even against trash teams was not expected. Therefore they are doing better than many of us expected.

That is what they most likely are. But it is less embarrassing to sneak into the playoffs and get done than to win 4 games or have team mates punching each other out of frustration.

One big difference....NYG had a great pass rush from their front 4.  We dont.

We have mediocre pass rush. But it’s not impossible to imagine Barnett-Cox-Hargrave-Sweat with some Williams to suddenly click and provide that.

Hasn’t really happened, that’s true. But it’s possible. There is talent there..

Yeah. Lurie said it will take a full on rebuild for "two to five years” (!) and went on to fire DP, one of the reasons that he wanted to compete this year (ok and staff).

Who knows. If we lose tonight against Washington there will be a whole lot of told-you-so’s.

Me, I know better than to pick against the birds.. as long as they are the underdog. In my heart there will always be hope they defy all odds again.
