I’m just saying, though. If you’ve ever been to a mental health professional, they teach you about flaws in thought patterns. Things like what I have been saying in this thread: just because you think something — doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true, things aren’t all good or all bad, etc.

And I don't disagree with you... But this D isn't as good as the stats suggest. Gannon isn't a good DC, he's far from it.

Personally, I think he’s had a decent season for a first year co-ordinator and deserves more time. I think if he was a retread that’s been around for a long time, perhaps he should be replaced. But I think he has a lot of room to grow.

As a person in the UK, do you know why there are so many sports called football? And why soccer is referred to as soccer in North America, but football most places? I learned this over the last couple years.

Last few years people criticized our CB’s endlessly. This year, there have been no issues, and Slay is playing like a pro bowler again. Nobody liked him either. No one is happy unless they give up zero points and zero yards

Maybe the Broncos fire Vic Fangio tomorrow and we can hire him and get him running this defense before our week 18 game vs the Cowboys.

Yeah, unless you have elite talent across the board, you’re going to have to concede something. And Gannon chooses to concede the underneath stuff, because he doesn’t want to give up big plays. He’s succeeded in that, in that they’ve given up the fewest plays of 20+ yards in the league. But obviously, it can be a very frustrating death by a thousand cuts feeling, at times. And when you face really good QBs, you’re going to have to do more, or they’re just going to methodically move the ball down the field, and score.

Agreed, unfortunately they don't have the talent right now to get the stops consistently on the underneath stuff. Gannon is doing what he needs to against bad teams which is what you like to see that he isn't getting beat by bad teams. Hopefully with some more talent next season he can start doing the same to the good teams

Would love to see a multitalented Linebacker or Safety to go with another Pass rusher.

That's the thing that baffles me..... Good linebackers are needed for what Gannon is looking to do ... On a team notorious for not giving a sheet about that position.

Agreed. This team needs a guy who can go sideline to sideline and get do a lot of stuff. The linebacker position is evolving.

And, of course, we lost Brandon Graham. That was a huge blow.

Kinda where I'm at. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm not itching to run him out either. He's young, and I'd like to see him with more experience and more talent.

Howie getting talent on D is a problem though.

We know this team isn't built to last on defense. They lack so much is ability and athleticism. But, they are sticking together and winning when it counts. Is what they currently have a reason for optimism? No. Because they will face better QB's and better offenses. There is no magic wand. They have to keep grinding out every thing they can to win.

So many sports referred to as football? In the UK we have football and we have American football. I don't know why in the US its known as soccer though.

And as I've said the stats are misleading. 

I think a lot of the deficiencies on our defense has also been masked by the fact that we've been running the ball so much and eating a lot of clock so the other team doesn't get the ball much.

It also helps when this team runs for 200+ yards a game and keeps this defense off the field.
