January 17, 20223 yr I think this season confirmed that the extra game isn’t much of the hinderance people thought it would be and this team should realize they have a ton of work to do this off-season to get themselves back next season.

Kelce against Vita Vea is why the Eagles couldn't run the ball, the Eagles would be wise to get a bigger C in there. This is nothing against Kelce, hellava player when not asked to play bully ball, unfortunately the playoffs are about bully ball.

It also showed seven seeds are really pointless though.

Just like how they are in the NBA. 7th and 8th seeds in the NBA are pointless and many times they actually have losing records. I think the positives have to be how some of the depth players and other players showed up and let us know they are worth while starters. The team is older, but I think there is optimism in the youth.

A lot of games this weekend weren't competitive though. I'm not in love with expanding the playoffs. I think we will see blowouts most of the time in future seasons (just like sweeps in the NBA). But there will be a team every once in a while that is getting healthy and squeaks in and then dominates.

The bottom line is the Eagles we’re the final seed, but they’re not a talented enough football team, but that still doesn’t take away from the fact they made the playoffs. They need to get better. Whining cause they were one and done is pointless.
January 17, 20223 yr Isn't Kelce's contract basically a poison pill that has some ridiculous cap number if he doesn't retire at the end of this season? Maybe he extends for another year but I think he was close to hanging them up last year and structured his contract like this to make sure he went this time, I wonder if he made a promise to his family or some such.

I don't think Kelce's contract is a problem but there are others. See the 2022 cap thread for that. Kelce: https://overthecap.com/player/jason-kelce/755/

Yeah, lets get rid of our all-pro player and one of the biggest reasons we made the playoffs

The supposed poison pill doesn't show in cap numbers but its been reported, there is a clause in there which means he will either retire or the contract needs to be renegotiated

Bad enough that 75% of people want to dump our 2nd year, first year starter pro bowl alternate QB, even though there isn’t a viable replacement. Now someone wants to get rid of our best and most durable player because he isn’t fat enough.

Possibly. It might depend on how this year went. If it were similar to 2020, I couldn't blame him for saying "enough of this crap".
January 19, 20223 yr The coaching staff I thought it was a real possibility they could be a complete disaster. In fact, I expected Gannon to be a complete disaster. Shockingly, he was not.
