Would it of mattered if we started our starters in week 17

I have a questioned after the fact.  If we played our starters in the last game would we have played better yesterday?   To be honest I say no!   All you have to do is look at Dallas yesterday.  So happy and giddy last week beating our 2nd and 3rd string players.  Yesterday it sucked to lose like that but all was not lost.  We got to see Dallas choke once again, with a stacked team at home.  That s my silver lining.   We were playing with house money, we have started slow all season so playing Dallas with our backups did not matter in the final game of the regular season.  Sure did not help Dallas.

It wouldn't have mattered to the outcome. We were thoroughly out classed, and would have been no matter what we did against Dallas.

No it wouldn't have made a difference. We weren't good enough to beat good teams. If we'd have won yesterday it was going to take something special or something bizarre. Playing the starters against Dallas likely would have ended in a bad defeat that wouldn't have set the team right for this week. Bottom line... This team isn't a bottom 10 team but its a long way off a top 10 team.

Yet he used "have" in his post just not the topic title.

No - this team should never have qualified for the playoffs in the first place.  The Eagles and Steelers showed yesterday why the NFL should not have expanded the number of qualifying teams.

I concur with Procus. We really had no business being there, and under normal circumstances, we wouldn't have been. I think we're a team on the rise, however, we weren't ready to be there (playoffs) just yet.

Absolutely possible.  Week 17, Raegor tears a acl while running in circles looking up at a punt trying to figure out the trajectory = he doesn't play yesterday which would only have positive outcome.

Honestly, I don't think we would have been beaten so badly but I still think we would have lost. It makes them losing yesterday bearable so there is that.....but no, I never wanted us to be in the playoffs for that very reason of what we looked like yesterday. Sure, it was an accomplishment but not really. They are not a playoff team at all and are still a few years away from being a serious contender....but reagor needs to go as well as jjaw.....

Nope. In fact more likely guys just would’ve gotten hurt. Didn’t help the team thought it was a good idea to ignore Smith for over a half of football though.

The top of the worst 10 teams would be 22nd ranked. Taking total performance - not just one aspect of the game into account - I wonder how far above 22nd ranked we are.

This.

Stupid NFL. Putting garbage teams in the playoffs. Yay. Watching NFL playoff games that are blowouts stinks.

Eagles were going to get their butts kicked yesterday, so playing the starters against Dallas would not have mattered.

What I took from this weekend is that there shouldn't be a 7th seed. Go back to old format. Know they want more games for more $$$, but clearly both 7th seeds had no business there.

I don't know. It made for some great week 17 games even if those teams didn't belong in the playoffs.

Maybe, if it was a tough game and we still lost to the Cowboys, and if they beat us by shutting down the run like Tampa did to us.

Maybe that might have led to Siriani coming up with more ways to beat the run blitz for the Tampa game. Who knows?

The only time a 7th seed is going to actually upset teams and make a run is when a team barely makes it into the playoffs as the 7th seed, but was getting healthy down the stretch. We have seen that happen to teams in the NFL that get healthy towards the end of the season. This year that wasn't an issue for the Eagles of Steelers though. Those teams were healthy enough and just bad and didn't belong in the playoffs.

Chargers should have been in the playoffs.

No.

Forget that 12 players tested positive for COVID on Monday before the Cowboys game. So Siri decided to rest everyone than play the game half-assed.
Even if all of the players played against the Cowboys, it wouldn't have mattered. The Bucs were ready. They won all 3 phases: offense, defense, special teams. The Eagles aren't in their league yet.

It sure didn't help Mr.Lazy Arse, of course I'm speaking of Cox, what a sorry POS, I can't believe they had a chance to trade him and didn't.

Yes.  Our starters would've gotten smacked on national TV two weeks in a row, this time by a team who literally ran a quarterback draw at midfield in the closing seconds with no timeouts.

No.

Don't you mean week 18?

Post is already a fail.

Nah. Would have made no difference but it did give Dak and crew a false sense of confidence beating on our scrubs before playing a real defense.
