Is it free?

Maybe. You have to fill out an application with your sex, race, place of birth, religion and income to find out if you qualify.

@DrPhilly is swedish a gendered language? Some family of ours in Germany and France mentioned that the gendering of objects was something some younger folks were going after over there. Along with the married vs unmarried woman distinction in referring to women (eg Fraulein, Senorita, Mademoiselle etc).

The use case they promoted was to use it to figure out how much each person in a group should pay when they all went out for dinner together.

We have a gender neutral pronoun that was introduced about 10 years back with moderate success.

they should ask if you use the Oxford comma :nonono:

I think they automatically eliminate anyone who brings up the use of commas in the political section of a football forum.

sorry... it's a sore spot for me

my girlfriend cheated on me with a panda

he ate, shot, and left

I'm sure if you hung around the Panda would have given you a second sore spot.

But as it stands now, that app is gonna cost you $3.99. Next time just lie on the application like everyone else. Maybe pull an Elizebeth Warren and say you are 10% for the Oxford comma.

one is either for or against it, there's not an intermediate position on this issue

that's why there's a semicolon bot no semicomma

Or....and this is a stretch, but sometimes people just type fast and don't double check due to how informal a setting this is. I know, crazy.

Oh, and I think you should have said but, not bot. Unless you meant a robot colon. Which is probably a lot cleaner than a normal colon.

There are a few other minor grammar errors in your post as well, but it's just a message board so who cares.  Maybe you just hate capital letters and punctuation?

I really wasn't attacking your grammar or punctuation

the Oxford comma is a stylistic choice and I was expressing my displeasure the same way I would if you were making tea in the microwave with the bag in the water

you have to remember that I have some psychological problems, but I'm sorry if I came on too strong

and stop altering my posts!

We have a teapot that gets used daily. She likes Lady Grey and I prefer Green Tea.

And I also prefer the Oxford comma, I just don't pay a lot of attention to checking my social media or message board posts.

There's your privilege again.

I don’t want those elite rich to gain more of the hard earned money from the community.

I predict they’ll go rampant with cancel culture and start banning books from schools, especially anti Nahtzee books.

Congressional and white house social media accounts will start virtue signaling by adding their preferred pronouns.

Does anyone else get this on linked in? Every other time I log in, I'm asked if I want to "add my preferred pronouns to my profile". I've noticed about half of my connections there have done so. Good grief.

I’m on there every day. It was prompting for a while, so I added them, then deleted them and it hasn’t asked me since.

Neil Young will show Spotify who's boss.

Oh. nvm.

I predict there will be a push to rename the United States, as the name of the country itself will remind people of slavery and colonialism.  "America", after Amerigo Vespucci, will obviously have to go, and may go first.  You can't have a country named after a colonialist!

Amerigo Vespucci was a mapmaker.

That won't matter to some people.  He might as well be Columbus' brother.  They're all colonialists!

Maps are racist

edit: They are also sexist and smack of colonialism.  They should be banned.

"White" folk will volunteer to get their asses kicked and robbed by minorities. It'll be the latest way to demonstrate what great virtue you have.

Now, not everyone in CVON jostle one another getting in line. Toaster was here first, Toty.

That's it, nice... orderly... long ass line.

I predict that every time an actor plays a role that is typically portrayed by a different race or gender than the actor, that movie will be labeled woke even if the race and gender of the character are completely irrelevant to the story.

I predict that candy will get less and less sexually desirable until we wake up one day and we can't even remember why we wanted to F candy in the first place.

That's not real wokeism

That can be true and the apologists can also be right occasionally.

I won't beat the point to death... but if you make a good faith effort to cast/hire on merit, then you're on the high ground.

Denzel was a kick ass Equalizer. Queen Latifah?

Also, agencies - particularly casting - are now stating outright that they intend to deliberately overrepresent certain groups. So if you know that's happening - and it's happening - then, "of course they had to cast Christopher Columbus as a gay black woman in a wheelchair", becomes a common refrain.

ok... dead horse thoroughly beaten (no offense to kz's stablemates)

Oh I agree. A lot of this stuff you need to look at case by case. For instance, I've read comments in social media along the lines of "they have a person of color is playing MJ in Spiderman, but imagine if John Travolta played MLK". I don't know if I can type long enough to unpack all that stupidity there.

Most of it's stupid and annoying but...they want to make money.  They sell their movies to an international audience and want to appeal to as many people as possible.  And if we're faulting companies for doing things that we think are wrong or stupid in the pursuit of profit, then casting somebody as another race is pretty far down that list.  Child slavery, environmental issues, destroying local businesses, etc. are a far bigger deal but get infinitely less attention/outrage.
