Posted February 4, 20224 yr One of the best day(s) of my life. It was the greatest distraction while I was going through the process of getting the diagnosis of breast cancer. We hosted the game 4 days post surgery and I was on the Parkway!!! I didn't even start processing my health stuff until March! Share your memories

February 4, 20224 yr I watched the entire playoff run, including the Super Bowl, in my basement by myself. No parties, nothing. My wife came downstairs towards the end of the SB to watch it to see my reaction. It was more shock than elation for me, because right up until the clock hit 0 and the ball hit the turf I was still convinced they were going to lose.
February 4, 20224 yr I actually pulled out my DVD of the Super Bowl this afternoon and watched the end of it. Yeah, it was a thrilling day, perhaps the happiest day of my life.

Me too. The next day I thought they were going to call pass interference on the last play of the game and the Patriots would win by default. Crazy Eagles fan mentality.

February 5, 20224 yr Had to work for the ATL game, but had it on the radio so could hear Merrill call the last incomplete pass to Julio. Watched the next 2 games at my sister's with family and friends. Her and my BIL usually host a SB party no matter who is playing and typically get 50-60 people. They have a full basement with an 8 seat bar and plenty of room to stand as well, so not a big deal for that many people between the upstairs kitchen/living room and the basement bar area that also has a small living room area (big screen TV there and smaller flat screen behind the bar). For the NFCCG is was just about a dozen family and close friends. This time, because everyone and their mother was having an Eagles SB party it was pretty much the same dozen family and friends. In hindsight, I think that worked out better. I remember yelling at the TV after the Philly Special how we tore a play out of their playbook and shoved it up their asses. I remember being really nervous about the review of Clement's TD catch. I remember yelling "Ball! Ball! Ball!" when BG stripped sacked Brady. And I remember holding my breath, first for the 4th & 1 completion to Ertz and again on that last second Hail Mary and then watching the ball hit the ground and immediately looking for the game clock. And at one point, not sure when, but I felt my pulse and it was way high so I walked around the room taking slow deep breaths to calm myself. After the game I got a call from my cousin who is a life long Eagles fan and we talked about the game and how we finally won the SB. For his wedding the invites were made to look like Eagles tickets. The tables were named for Eagles players so you could be sitting at the Brian Dawkins table. His bride to be (also a big Eagles fan) contacted the Eagles to see if any players could show up to the wedding, but it was during PS so they couldn't. However, Evan Mathis sent them a football signed by a bunch of the players (this was in 2012). IIRC, he did this and wrote to the bride because she had mentioned she has his jersey so in the letter that came with the football he just asked that she continue "rocking my jersey". After getting off the phone with my cousin I treated myself to a generous pour of Midleton Rare Irish Whiskey, which I had bought and brought over to their house Thanksgiving, that at the time went for about $160/bottle. A great night that I am very appreciated I got to experience and share with really good people. EDIT: Someone just posted in The Blog a couple of the underrated defensive plays, one of which was Jenkins leveling Cooks. I do recall doing my best Chris Tucker voice "You got knocked the F out, man!" at the TV just after the play.
February 5, 20224 yr Nfl network showed the 2005 SB last night. Couldn’t show the one where Brady lost 😆

People asked me why I wasn't more excited. I said, "That's Tom Brady". When that hail mary went up I started wondering who would win the OT coin toss. I was so dead pan that entire last drive, until I saw that ball hit the ground on the hail mary. I started jumping and screaming "it hit the f'ing ground" at the top of my lungs. I've never jumped that high before or after. I was behind my dad's bar and I swear I could have jumped right over it. The rest of the night is a blur, but I did get a completely sober pic with my brother and his 5 month old son
