Howie Roseman is going to be diligent with his scouting of the quarterback group at this year’s Senior Bowl and one day after getting blown away by Malik Willis, reports have surfaced that Philadelphia has met with Nevada quarterback Charlie Strong.

Strong fits the mold when it comes to quarterbacks, standing 6’4 215 pounds, the former Nevada signal-caller has the best arm in the draft, he’s among the most accurate passers in the draft, can throw his wide receivers open, while also making sound decisions in the passing game.

Strong threw for 4,175 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2021 and definitely could be a name to watch for Philadelphia if he slips out of the first round.

I could see the Eagles taking him in the second if he falls that far and the medical checks are satisfactory. I'd be rather disappointed if he was one of our first round picks.

I don't know much about Strong's collegiate career, but with three first round picks, I'm OK with the idea of snagging a QB with potential with one of them. Bring him along slowly so when we inevitably decide to move on from Hurts, we've got options.

Strong comes with some real injury concerns...

I’d be OK with "snagging a QB with potential” too but not before day 3.  IMHO it just doesn’t make sense to use a high pick on a player with so many questions (all QBs in this class fit that description).  If Hurts isn’t the guy moving forward and you use yet another 2nd (or worse yet 1st) on a QB just 2 years after using one on Hurts and he also doesn’t become the guy that just adds to the pile of high picks we’ve wasted.  In order for a QB to become "the guy” he needs to be a special talent.  I think it is much smarter to wait until a stronger QB class comes along and then go get your guy.

I'd stay away from Ridder. He has beta face.

He’s in reality a 3rd rounder but he will go much higher in April. I have major concerns about every QB, but my concern with Ridder is fixable. It’s his consistent inconsistency.

After doing some preliminary research, I think taking a shot on Strong isn't such a bad idea.  Not with a first rounder, no thanks.  But, I'd be okay with a trade-up from our 2nd round slot to snag him.  I doubt he'll be there at 51.  Strong has just as much, if not more, potential as any QB in this class (for what that's worth).
