February 15, 20223 yr No team in their right mind will trade for Wentz and that contract. Even last year the Colts were the only team that made a final offer, and still ended up getting bent over by Howie. At this point, Hurts and Minshew have more trade value.

And the irony is that most of the Hurts haters on this board are Wentz lovers and blast Hurts for a lot of the same issues that Wentz had. Wentz is who he is at this point. Hurts might get better. And as he isn't costing us anything, it doesn't hurt to find out next year, particularly with the limited alternatives. Hurts is terrible.
February 15, 20223 yr I can see someone potentially trading with his cap in its current situation because he has no dead cap if he's cut after this upcoming season. The Colts will just only receive compensation as if it's a 1 year deal.

He had a very similar season to Hurts and wasn't nearly as bad as some people make out. But people also need to accept 2017 Wentz is gone. He's a solid starting QB in the 15-20 range. You can win with him, but he's not going to put a team on his back and is still prone to costly errors, trying to make plays that aren't there. Wentz and the Eagles are absolutely done though. No way I want him back and no way he would come back. Clearly there is more behind the scenes stuff here afoot. The team isn’t responding to the guy. There are also subtle rumors coming out of Indy regrading if he’s still even coachable. Maybe all this is a ploy by Indy to light a fire under him and try and force that old Wentz out of him, but we have already witnessed this guy doesn’t do well under pressure situations.
February 25, 20223 yr There's always been an undercurrent that Wentz rubs people the wrong way, he's not a galvanizing personality that most QBs are. We've certainly had our share of reports about his entitlement and hardheadedness, I'm a little surprised that he carried that over in Indy, would have thought he had learned his lesson. On to team #3 I guess.

A team could bring him in if they plan on drafting a rookie I guess? He's not going to like that (as we saw here in Philly) but I'm not sure he's going to have a lot of choice.
March 2, 20223 yr If we're bringing back a former Eagles starting QB to be a backup I'd rather have Nick Foles at this point. Then again, if the Bears don't bring back Andy Dalton, they may keep Foles as a veteran backup for Justin Fields.

He just does his job, but frankly Foles has a bigger shadow than even Wentz would at this point. The SB MVP in the only SB this town ever had is the backup to Hurts. There’s enough guys in that locker room who remember the heroics of that run and the run the following year too. One slip up by Hurts and I could easily see the vets turning on him for Foles. I don’t see the same for Wentz, because there is clearly some locker room stuff with him that players aren’t exactly behind him 100%. We heard the undercurrents here and it’s not like he’s getting a huge vote of confidence from a lot of Indy players right now either.
March 3, 20223 yr Bringing back Foles would be nothing more than a sentimental move. It would be a sideways step from what we have right now. He'd do some things better than Hurts, some things not as well and it wouldn't be the long term move at the QB position this team is going to need.
March 3, 20223 yr Bringing back Foles would just create chaos with the fans. Jalen has too many issues and plays down too much to put a SB hero behind him.

March 4, 20223 yr My goodness what are the Colts really doing here though? By their own comments they’re basically killing any trade value this guy has, and if this is all just some kind of ploy to make Carson better well this doesn’t seem like the best way to reach him.
