Eagles beat writers season predictions

Three of that four inquirer.com guys boldly predict a 9-7 season.  Only Domo believes what the front office is selling and has them at 11-5.

https://www.inquirer.com/eagles/nfl-eagles-schedule-release-season-predictions-analysis-20200507.html

And i'm curious about your take on the guys who cover the Eagles for a living?. I check inquirer.com daily and BGN often and follow lots of Twitter accounts.  The traditional guys mentioned above (McLane, Domo, Bowen, Smith) are all veteran journalists and excellent storytellers but they are frequently behind the curve with breaking news.

Dallas: Split

Giants: sweep

Skins: Sweep

So thats 5-1 in the division.

out of division I’ve got:

Wins: Cinci, Arizona, Pittsburgh, LA, Cleveland, New Orleans (I think this is the year Brees finally falls off a cliff)

Losses:

Baltimore, SF, GB, Seattle

So I have 11-5

Not only that, it seems to me that the local writers actually hate the team and are always trying to find the negative or create controversy.

Sounds about right. Except I have them beating SEA and losing to NO.

I can't really disagree with any of this, however they seem to lose a game to a team they shouldn't and vice versa.  So I wouldn't be surprised to see one of those losses you have listed as a win, but for them to also lost to a team they really should beat.

I don't know how they feel about the team deep down, but they clearly know what generates clicks and impressions among Eagles fans.

I still think its 8-8 or 9-7.

Agree with the top.

But we always have a letdown against a bad team (Cards this year I think). The bengals have our number for some reason. I don't think they can bet neither the seahawks nor the saints.

Was - Win

Rams - Win

Bengals - Loss

49ers - Loss

Steelers - Win

Ravens - Loss

Giants - Win

Cowboys - Loss

Giants - Win

Browns - Win

Seahawks - Loss

Packers - Win

Saints - Loss

Cardinals - Loss

Cowboys - Win

Redskins - Win

I had the Saints as a loss initially but Brees can only escape Father Time for so long. I’m expecting him to fall of hard this year.

I'm with you. I think the Saints are the biggest risk team on the board this year. Lots can go wrong starting with Brees.

I have them at 11-5 as well.  I wont mind losing to Pittsburgh if we can finally beat Carroll and Wilson.  I'm so sick of losing to them at home and on the road

You have us going 5-1 in the division and only winning 3 or 4 more games? Right off the bat we arent losing to the Bungals and the Cardinals lol.

Unfortunately, hate sells news.

I’d be surprised if we are worse than 10-6 without any big injuries

Writers always say between 7-10 wins because that is the safe zone in even if you are wrong its usually not by much. 9-7, 10-6 is a cop out.

ESP predicted 9-2 to start season and 0-5 to finish

Not interested in doing a game-by-game prediction, but rather look at the team at the macro level.  The Eagles are still the best team in the division, having won it last year and being the only team with continuity on the coaching staff.  They have recognized their glaring weaknesses at the outside skill positions and at least taken some meaningful measures through FA and the draft to address those weaknesses.

The other biggest area of weakness is the huge toll of injuries each of the past three seasons.  I’m hopeful there will be sizeable improvement this season, by fluke if nothing else — although I am a believer the offseason program and minimal training camp and preseason will be an equalizer for injuries for most teams this year.

I see the Eagles going 11-5 and winning the division.  A 13-3 championship season followed by two straight 9-7 seasons begs the question which direction the team is trending.  There is still too much talent to remain as an average team, and I think the overall strategy to move younger and faster will serve the Eagles well.

Predictions are just as dumb as mock drafts. Too many if's, and's and but's

We won 9 games last year with the practice squad. We should win 11/12 games even with the hard schedule, IMO

We have swept the Giants and Redskins each of the last 3 years.
