And the contract is not a bad contract for this team either. But he's also not necessarily what this team needed and at this point (very very very early days) they are really no better with a lot of the top players off the board. Considering Eagles were dead last in sacks last season, to sign a productive pass rusher that should become an asset to the defense, it’s definitely what they needed. If they grab a DE & LB in the draft, they could have a much improved front 7 with a lot of potential. Reddick is a good start to that. Also it’s best to stay away from the top guys usually. Though I am slightly concerned about them missing out on the safety market so far.

Signed an affordable yet high quality pass rusher with top 5 sack numbers the last 2 years. Still young as well. The only concern is if Gannon will scheme to use him properly. If he plays a SAM or Joker role and gets moved around AND they still take advantage of the draft class at DE to take one in the first round...the pass rush could be solidified for years. Sweat and the DTs would benefit, the LBs would benefit.

He had 5 of his 12 1/2 sacks in 2020 against the Giants in week 12, the first 11 games he only had 5 sacks.

Graham’s entire career has been like that and Sweat this year was up and down. From what I keep hearing about him is that he doesn’t really have pass rush moves. He just runs around the tackle a lot. In the grand scheme of things he’s probably not the best fit at DE, but the Eagles eyed pass rush and that’s something he can provide. I don’t think it keeps the Eagles from drafting on the defensive line though.

I personally don't consider the Reddick signing as having addressed DL. IMO he will fill more of a specialized role ... DL is still a huge need and still hoping for 2 DEs from our 10 draft picks since this is such a strong class at the position. I don't think adding Reddick should change anything as it relates to draft strategy ... I think DE is super strong possibility (like 95%) on day 1, and hoping we grab another either on day 2 or early day 3. The more legit pass rushers we add to this defense, the less it is likely they come in bunches with long stretches in between.

Yeah I agree this team needs help on the defense on all levels, but they definitely need to add to the pass rush. When the pass rush for this team was good they sent waves after the offense. The backups could be just as effective as the starters. Plenty more depth needs to be added there.

Agreed they still do need pass rush. But hey if they draft a DE in the first round and he turns out to be good... And then we also have Reddick then things are looking up.
March 18, 20223 yr May be time for me to buy another Jersey. I couldn't imagine growing up and getting to play for your team. I wasn't even good enough to dream of such things. Good to know he understands the city and the expectations.
March 22, 20223 yr the more I hear and watch Reddick the more exciting I am for this year. He will truly bring that aded pressure to the defense and contribute in a huge way

March 25, 20223 yr Silly me thought this signing would be the first of a few free agent signings up to now.
March 27, 20223 yr Howie will draft a DE this year...and we know how it will go down: Howie trades #15 + to move up and take David Ojabo...this guy is going to be irresistible to Howie because he is 1. Overrated, 2. A raw "project" 3. Coming off a torn Achilles so he checks all three of Howie's boxes

December 12, 20222 yr Isn't it nice to have a double digit sack guy. And potentially a couple more players to hit 10 by the end of the year.

None of this happened of course, but you did get to display your contempt for Howie, who has done a brilliant job this year.
