I know the mob mentality on this board always seems to take over and the typical reaction is to hate the guy because,  you know… the internet…

The safe and popular route most people seem to take here is to vilify the guy. And I’ll admit he’s made bad calls on some contracts and a fair share of draft picks. But, I think fans of many other NFL teams feel the same way about their GM. Every GM is going to have hits and misses. Some big and some small.. Howie just seems to play it safe… and maybe that’s why so many on here are so furious with him… He doesn’t swing for the fences every single year… and you wanna know why? Because GMs that do that don’t typically last very long. Because big moves that don’t pan out can set a franchise back for years and get you fired… And the fans screaming for you to make those big moves are the same ones that will scream for you to be hanged, drawn, and quartered if it doesn’t work out.

I really never see anyone on this board coming up with other options as far as who to bring in that would do a better job… no other input other than screaming for his head and complaining about him and/or Lurie. So many teams have had much less success and have had multiple GMs in the time Howie has been here. Just look at the Browns … The Bears… The Lions… etc…

The Bears were trying to trade for Deshaun Watson last year before the off-season scandal stuff broke out… And it’s common knowledge that it was going to involve multiple 1st round picks… A kings random- all to try to bring in a QB that they had passed over in the 2017 draft and selected Trubisky with the #2 overall pick… Meanwhile, Trubisky was on the bench in Buffalo… and at years end, they ended up firing both coach and GM…. Another new regime in Chicago… seems like that’s been the case for decades now. And that’s just one example.

I think it’s just the fashionable thing to do on this board to pile on the front office/ownership because well, again… the internet…

But Lurie and Howie have both given us a Lombardi. How quickly we forget….And it was all after we were about as low as we had been in a LONG time after the Chip Kelly debacle. I love my team and I get emotional and passionate about them as much as anyone else,  but I’m also capable of looking at at it from a rational and analytical perspective…. And like many other popular topic opinions on this board, I’m going to disagree with this outright hatred of Roseman. A certain amount of criticism is fair and justified, - I’ve been critical off moves he’s made too… but acting as though re-signing him dooms us?!? Complete bullish!t… go back through the entire history of the Eagles- He’s the only Eagles GM in history with a Lombardi. I’m not saying that gives him a GM-for-life pass, and I’m not saying that you can’t criticize and question contracts, cuts, signings, trades, draft picks, extensions, etc.. but no way he deserves this much hate and criticism.

Nuance?? on these boards?? You're brave 😜 got a valid point though

What the hell! I mean what on earth...

He got Minshew for 6th round pick. Probably the steal of the year.

Just don't let him draft anymore wide receivers.

Media: Sources telling me a few big moves coming out of Philly by Friday!

Fans: Oh yeah we are about to get Watson!

Eagles: Extend Howie Roseman and release Fletcher Cox. Got ‘em! 😂

Mishandle the cap and lose out on free agents, cut Cox and create a draft need on top of a long list of needs..."genius."

My goodness people act like Minshew is the greatest thing since sliced bread. He played in two games last year and went 1-1. Not as big of a move as people are making it out to be.

Yeah look - I'm not overly happy with the Roseman extension, but this is a good post and these are all valid points.

It will be great when Minshew is traded for something slightly better than a 6th rounder.

So did Nick Foles and he’s not here anymore. Just because someone did something great that one time doesn’t mean they keep doing it.

How is something "great” if it’s just "slightly better?”

I've been hard on Howie for awhile.  However, if I am honest and sit back away from the EMB chaos, he has set everything up for another run of success.  The picks he reloaded with, while biting the bullet on Wentz's contract, may turn out to be one of his best moves ever.

Still won't stop me from criticizing the current mess at QB that we are in.

Drafting and cap management has been his short comings, I've always given him credit for trying during the FA period.

Since drafting is the most important aspect of building a team, if he screws up this draft then his legacy will be that of a screw-up.

Will wait till after the draft to see what this team will looks like.

But, it make take the fans at the Linc chanting Fire Howie, Fire Howie, to get rid of him, just like we got rid of Andy Reid.

They did that already and had basically every broadcaster during games in 2020 say his drafting is terrible....

2020 looked like the moment it was all going to fall apart, but then 2021 happened and Howie avoided the dreaded back to back losing seasons of death. Howie’s never going anywhere. At this point rooting for Howie to be fired is the same as rooting for him to nail the draft. Fairytales and unicorns for both. 😂🤣😂

At this point I look at it like this..... He is far from the worst.... That's all I got lol

And that's fair. He's definitely not the worst. He's far from the worst and he's far from the best. And ultimately that lands us somewhere in the middle which is pretty much exactly what this team has under him.

Bingo.

I used to be quite pissed about J.J. over Metcalf and Reagor over Jefferson...but now I look back and think how in the hell did he not trade for D.Hopkins or Diggs. I get we had a bunch of money tied up to Jeffery but still you don't pass up a chance to get the best receiver in the NFL (Hopkins).

Lurie was about ready to slap Howie...with a lifetime franchise tag.

Pretty much the same opinion I have. Howie's made some questionable moves and some epic blunders but that's going to happen to any GM. He's also made some good moves and even a couple brilliant ones.He also helped get us a Lombardi and even if you see that as catching lighting in a bottle, it still should account for something. I'm just afraid we could end up throwing the baby out with the bathwater if he was run out. I'm content to give Howie and Siri 3 years to right this ship. I don't believe even Lurie will have patience beyond that if significant progress isn't made.
