March 17, 20223 yr Heard they’re trying to bring him back already. Needed to cut him before 4 so his 18 million wouldn’t be guaranteed this year.

March 17, 20223 yr So a team could essentially scoop him up with a better contract and a chance to contend
March 17, 20223 yr Not shocked or surprised If he leaves without anything In return then Howie kept him for too long when the previous year he could have traded him for something.
March 17, 20223 yr I’m calling it now. We cut Cox to lower his cap hit so we can trade for Deshaun Watson!!!!
March 17, 20223 yr End of an era. Not the same player anymore though. Surprised to see Brandon Graham outlast him though.

We save 2 million His cap hit was 14.9 million, being a post June 1st release his dead cap is 12.8 million. Saves us 2.1 million this year.
March 17, 20223 yr In a cost-cutting move, the Eagles have released a mainstay of their defense. The team has released defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network (Twitter link). He adds that Cox is being designated as a post-June 1st cut. The reason for the release’s timing is due to the fact that at 4:00 PM EST, $18MM of the compensation he was owed – nearly the entire amount – would have become fully guaranteed. Cutting him in this way creates over $12.8MM in dead money, while creating $2.1MM in cap space.
March 17, 20223 yr Interesting just for $2.1mil in cap space. I know he’s not elite anymore but not like there’s going to be anyone available who can replace his presence. Maybe there’s a trade for a young DT in the works

March 17, 20223 yr Had to do it. His production doesn't justify what it would have cost to keep him on the team. Maybe he's back on a new deal. Who knows. Wouldn't bother me much either way.

March 17, 20223 yr He is in decline anyway. Replace him with a draft pick, or re-sign him and get this last year out of him, because he is seriously playing some underwhelming ball. TY, Fletch, but time waits for nobody, and it won't wait for you. Let's see what the plan is.
March 17, 20223 yr Interesting. The Eagles must think he's overpaid and want to restructure the deal. I wonder if there's a market for Cox?
