Looks like the Eagles are interested in getting a bigger WR to pair with Smith based on their interviews during the combine. If they are looking for a true X WR then Pickens (6’3” - 195lbs) in the best in this draft. His physically attacking the ball in the air and blocking in the run game is top notch. I think Pickens in a top WR in this draft and should not fall out of the first round. I believe he is better than both London and Burks. He is a little of a hot head sometimes so I am not sure he fits Howie "nice guy” scouting criteria. If the eagles trade down to late first and draft Pickens I would not be that upset. Definitely would not be my top WR in this draft but is in my top 5

I'm not sure that's accurate though. I've heard on a couple of podcasts that what they are actually looking at is a WR who can move around.

maybe even a wr who can catch the ball 🙂

You can't have a Pickens thread without @HazletonEagle.

Well, so far looks like we lost out on the S and WR FA market.  There's still some players left, but the best ones are all off the board.  We might have to use the draft to find our X receiver.  I don't want just a big possession target.  Even though Quez is our deep threat we should still have an X who is also a threat to go deep.  Are the Eagles really looking for a big target or do they just want a playmaker regardless of size?

Haven't looked at any mock simulation sites lately so don't know if Pickens has moved up.  Think before the Combine he was considered a 3rd Round pick so don't know what value has been placed on him since.  He is one WR in the draft I am interested in.

I dont think I have made any threads in here this year. These guys can have the glory. The blog is where the proof of my scouting prowess is.

That definitely won't be on Howie's list...

Correct, Howie is only looking for guys with Hall of Fame level character. Football skills is second or third on his list.

If Pickens is around in the 2nd he is exactly the type of raw high upside weapon this team needs.

Draft some dawgs, don’t over think it.

If Sauce somehow slips to 11 Howie needs to offer Washington 15 and 83 to go get him.  Then grab Pickens in the 2nd.  DraftTek has him rated late 2nd/early 3rd.

If Sauce falls to 11 Washington will draft him

All do respect to DraftTek, they have no clue what they are talking about. Pickens will be a 1st rounder imo. BUT I am willing to bet he is a top 40 selection.

PFF has him at 57 as well.  Not far off of DraftTek’s ranking.

Think that's about where ProFootballNetwork has him as well.  Yup, just started a mock draft there and he's #59.

I have seen some mocks done by draft analysts where he's being taken early 2nd Round and even late 1st Round.  I'd be fine with either him or Watson in the 2nd, if they go WR that early.

There is always a prospect these ranking sites are off on. I understand people thoughts though, it is "what have you done for me lately?" I take Pickens 10 out of 10 times over Drake London and Watson. We can revisit this conversation a year from now to see how these rankings look

Definitely agree on that about London (and likely 7 times out of 10 on Watson).

Haha watch us all look like fools if London ends up being a beast. I just dont see that though

I think Pickens would be a great pick. But we may have to trade up in the second to get him.

Wont be there in the second imo

I think he's in that late 1st/early 2nd tier. Would be surprised to see him on the board by the time we pick in the 2nd round unless we move up or use one of our 1st round picks on him.

I think Pickens personally is a 1st round lock. I think he will go a lot higher than people think. I expect him to go anywhere from 15-32.

the fact he has not played much this season made people forget how much of a playmaker he is. He will be a steal in for the team that drafts him. If healthy, likely would have been WR1 in this draft

He's been getting a lot of buzz lately. Seeming more likely he won't be getting past GB or KC. He'd be a good Adams replacement for GB.

Given some of these FA salaries for 2nd tier WRs, the 5th year option is looking pretty pretty good - bottom of the 1st seems right.

I am no college fan/scout, but the more I watch the WRs in this draft, it just seems to me that Pickens stands out. He beat peak Stingley JR a few times. Looks fast, good breaks, great hands. This is the guy I want. Maybe a small trade down and then take him in the first.

Their Freshman battle in the SEC Championship game was good. I would say the battle was even. Stingley also got a pick on a lazy route ran by Pickens.

but I disagree, if the eagles want him you draft him at 18.
