Keeping sanders at a 12-15 touch game would be ideal for his durability. Scott, Hyde and a 4th backs could split the rest. If a teams goes deep into the playoffs and their top back is getting 20-25 touches a game, he's going to either get hurt or wear out before his contract. RBBC keeps guys fresh, can withstand an injury and can create mismatch problems. As long as you have 4 versatile backs. While I agree with your overall point, completely in fact. Sanders need to be getting more than 12 touches a game. He should get around 15 carries or so and catch 2 or 3 passes as well. Keeping him in that 16-20 range is the sweet spot for me. 1

We have a RBBC, yet we do use "the hot hand". If Sanders gets going, nobody would suggest he rides the bench here for the RBBCs sake. 1

Yes that's what Doug and Duce have shown so far but that's because they haven't had a stud RB. They do now in Sanders and so the bulk of the touches will go to Sanders. But Scott can handle himself and Hyde would be a really good addition just to mix things up sometimes and keep people fresh.

Exactly.......Pedersen has shown that he will limit touches if someone else matches up better or has a hot hand. Sanders will get his touches, but they won't overload him week to week. Scott and Hyde can be very productive......and having 3-4 versatile backs will be beneficial in absorbing an injury to the group.
FastFreddie Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 Rumors have expanded to include Devonta Freeman and Shady McCoy. All things considered, I'd still want Hyde of those three. And I agree with the PhillyVoice take that Shady could be justifiable if they think he has anything left, but Devonta is redundant with Sanders and Scott.
dawkins4prez Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Never understood why people and even writers were worried about the Eagles backfield. the FA class was ridiculously talented, cheap and deep. We get our pick between Hyde and Donta Freeman and it won't cost more than $3m. Hyde fits this offense and this rotation like a glove. Only issue is that him and Sanders make a pretty fumble-y tandem.

Lesean McCoy played for duce and he was the primary back and had his best years for Duce. Sanders was the basically the primary back last year because duce believed in him. The whole duce has an awful rotation and no one will ever be properly used is overblown in my opinion. Duces worst years were when we had running backs that didn't fit the system or were just flat out crappy talent. 1

Hyde did have 4 fumbles last year with a career total of 15 fumbles since entering the league in 2014, which is not ideal, but the Eagles would be hard pressed to find a better complement to Sanders and Scott in the free agency pool. I wouldn't worry too much about the fumbling issue. Here is a list of the other RBs that fumbled the ball at least 4 times last year, compared to the Eagles RBs and the trio of RBs the Eagles have interest in: Chris Carson (7) Dalvin Cook (5) Derrick Henry (5) Devin Singletary (4) Kenjon Barner (4) Melvin Gordon III (4) Alvin Kamara (4) Eagles RBs Boston Scott (4) Miles Sanders (2) Free Agent Targets Carlos Hyde (4) Devonta Freeman (3) LeSean McCoy (3) There are some pretty big names at RB that fumble the ball at least as often as Hyde did last year. Dalvin Cook, Derrick Henry, Melvin Gordon III, and Alvin Kamara are all guys I'm sure you would love to have on this team, financial implications aside.

Sanders/Hyde/Scott might end up being the best backfield in the NFC East and that's saying a LOT. But you know in your heart we will lose a game because of a fumble from that group. 1

FastFreddie Posted May 21, 2020 Author Posted May 21, 2020 Apparently some scuttlebutt about Devonta Freeman has been surfacing. Dude might be washed. I’d still rather have Hyde. 1

To be fair Fournette is a better receiver than Howard. I think the Eagles value that a lot in a RB. Regardless i think it's a moot point. I cant see the Eagles wanting to spend the money or draft currency.
PoconoDon Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 the Eagles need a power back. Hyde is the choice, imo.
FastFreddie Posted May 23, 2020 Author Posted May 23, 2020 Oh well. Combine this with Devonta’s overpuffed contract demands, and looks like Shady’s on his way. 1
