To be fair, the fact that there were no deaths in this one is probably also a factor when comparing to similar mass shootings.

while that is true, i'm going to say no to that. i'm fairly certain this thread would be a free for all. it' just how it is around here. its not like we don't see victim blaming & in depth detective work on minorities shot by whites from the other side. 

i'm just wishing we can some how get beyond the bias (i'm not completely innocent of it myself) and just call things out for what they are. until then IMO, the politicians and the media will continue to win.

Oh I agree that there's a double standard at play here and that the media is more likely to keep a story in the news cycle longer if it was a white guy shooting a bunch of black people for racial reasons. But if Dylan Roof didn't actually kill anyone, it would've been dropped from the cycle far quicker than it was. The extent of the "damage" of an attack is a factor in how much headline impact it has.

It's also not fair to say it's completely disappeared either, it was still referenced on nbc's nightly news when we had it on in the background on Saturday. No it wasn't the lead story anyone, but it might not help when it's fighting for viewers attention with the atrocities going on in Ukraine.
