xstonr Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 If the NFL decided to play it's games without fans in the stadium why not have the games played in either a warm weather stadium or a domed stadium. This way weather will not factor into the game's outcome.
MR-CYN Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 They should just play in a Walmart parking lot because it's ok there and they can have all the fans they want. 6

Nah, that's no good. Players all be trippin over those concrete car bump thingys and runnin into the fat chicks in their stretchy pants pushing shopping carts full of toilet paper....

Fans are a the main factor for HOA but so is travel/weather.
Lorddevn Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Does this mean every game will be blacked out in the local market due to no sell outs. 2 1
AngryBird Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 That's definitely an option, and potentially something they'll look at. At this rate there's no chance there will be a packed stadium. They'll distance people, TV contracts make up a bulk of the revenue anyways.
315Eagles Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 If they have to then they should have games without fans. But it wont be the same. A big part of the game is the fans. Watching UFC this past weekend was OK but kinda weird with nobody cheering.

You do know home field advantage also counts for the weather you are use to playing in. you want the weather to be a factor for those sissy warm weather/dome teams that come in a cold weather environment. Fans are only a part of the advantage. 2
EazyEaglez Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Greed will overcome any virus. Eventually you will see fans even if it literally kills them. 2 1

Loved how you can hear them breathing, Hear the coaches on the side and you can hear every shot that mattered. With that being said I believe fans enhance the NFL experience but if it needs to be done just this year I say just enjoy it for what it is. You get to see a different element we’ve never experienced before. 2
UK_EaglesFan89 Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 I don't think they should even consider playing games without fans in the stadiums. There's too much of an advantage for some teams and too much of a disadvantage to others.
Jfluke Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 They can let home teams pump in a controlled amount of noise. And the networks can certainly digitally add fans like they do the yellow 1st down line. I wonder if the lack of noise might actually be a distraction for some players? You get used to things being a certain way.
matchew88 Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 The NFL has been alienating fans in attendance for years now, this was naturally the next step, virus or not

dawkdaballhawk Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Add VR to the game. They could, but won't, make it seem like you're in the stadium or even on the field.

Imagine all the censoring the networks will have to do from being able to hear the players cursing and ish-talking on the field with no fans. Goodell probably gonna implement unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for saying bad words LOL. Would love to see the look on Hazelton's face when Eagles get a 15 yard penalty because Derek Barnett said "@$$" instead of "hynee" 1

Ticket sales, parking, concessions, in-arena advertising and marketing sponsorships. It's a lot of dough.
mr_hunt Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Quote Although ticket sales constitute an important revenue stream for individual NFL teams, they are nonetheless relatively small compared to quickly growing revenue from TV deals. Like ticket sales, concessions are peanuts compared to TV deals. 1

But you still miss the crowd going crazy during an intense exchange of punches or when someone gets dropped or KO'ed the roar of the crowd.
