Eagles coverage locally really has gotten a lot worse over recent years.

But you wouldn't know that if you relied on the Inquirer or other large media.  This is the first time the Eagles will work together, kicking off the 2022 season.  You'd think in a big NFL market like ours the media would be all over it.

Maybe they thought SWAG would post workout videos on Twitter so they did not need to provide coverage.

Does it normally start on the same week as the draft?  That's what everyone is focused on.

It’s draft week and Sixers playoffs. Not surprising that voluntary workouts for the Eagles are getting little/no mention.

Most teams started last week but Siriani is cutting way back on offseason work, like he did last year.  That in itself is an interesting story.

I would respectfully submit this town is big enough to report on more than one major sports story the same day.  There are more die hard Eagles fans than any other sport.  I know it's crazy, but editors should realize that some of us want to read about the Sixers AND the the draft AND the beginning of OTAs, which ultimately shape the roster. Many of us are interested in a first look at the 2022 team after the off season.  Not a major thing but a definite miss by our local sports media, which, as @RememberTheKoy  points out seems to be a trend.

It's on the Eagles home page of NBC Sports Philadelphia, it's just that it's draft week so those stories are more prominent.

It's not even on the Eagles team website either.  But Nate Herbig signed a contract tender and there's news about the Autism Foundation.  So the team itself isn't even talking about it.  Are the local reporters in Vegas preparing to cover the draft?  I'm sure there will be more about offseason programs after the draft.  What are they doing this week anyway, some drills in shorts?  You don't ever learn much about anything this early.

We've been cutting back on off season work since Doug and the team always start the season looking like they haven't got the offense down and we haven't started better than 1-1 since 2016.

Carson Strong Praised on day 1.

1. While Sirianni wouldn't comment on "who stood out" after one practice during which players wore helmets, shells, and shorts with no contact, he did talk about quarterback Carson Strong, whom the team signed following the 2022 NFL Draft. Strong had a brilliant career at the University of Nevada, where he tossed 74 touchdowns and just 19 interceptions. At 6-foot-3 and 226 pounds, Strong showed up on the field.

"I thought he did a good job today. It's a lot. He's reading plays differently and running different plays, to have to go back there and manage everything," Sirianni said. "One thing I'm impressed by is when a guy can come out and just call a play because there are a lot of guys that don't call plays, right, and they are looking to the sideline. We call plays in the huddle. He was pretty smooth at that. That means he studied hard. He got ready for this day today. He was really sharp, and he knew what to do and he knew where to go with the football. He has a big arm, and you definitely can see that. Those are tools to work with. His size and arm strength is noticeable when he's out there."
