After much thought I officially told HR that I plan on retiring at 62.  That's right, little known to all but a few of you, I'm an old Fer.  That's 18 months from now.  I'm getting an RV, Harley is selling her house and we are taking the show on the road.  TLEMR hooked me up with contacts in our beautiful national park system and we are going to go across the country employed as recreation managers for different parks.  It's seasonal work at each park and they provide us with a free RV camping spot.  I'm going out the same way I lived the rest of my life by beating the system.  Harley can put the money from the sale of her house in some type of investment and we can live off my Pension and 401K.  We have smart people on here.  What's a good safe place to stick $550,000?  It doesn't have to make crazy interest, I just don't want her losing any money.  Thanks in advance.

Just invest in a few ETFs or if you want less volatility and some tax free income Muni Bond funds.  Generally you'll be more balanced towards fixed income as you reach retirement age.

Or just give it to @vikas83 and he can make you less poor...or more poor if he invests it in hookers and blow.
