Davis and AJ Brown is a better Day 1 than I ever could have expected.

A

Gotta pay the price to get premium players.

Good work by Howie and company.

I went with a B, because I’m not big on the Davis pick. The AJ Brown trade is an A, Davis pick is a C. So averaged it out to a B grade.

Hamilton + AJ Brown would have been an A+

I was not a fan of how much they gave up to jump the ravens but I can’t not give Davis and Brown an A.

A.  Davis is going to require a double man most of the time which should help Cox get out of his funk and be able to contribute again like we know he’s capable of.

If Hurts developed over the off season this will help but it will also expose his inabilities in the passing game so we can make changes too.  If he doesn’t get better with the addition of Brown who has a pretty decent 1st down catching ability then maybe we start looking into a different Qb. But I don’t think we have pick 101 anymore.  Isn’t that the one we packaged in for the trade?

Not sold at on Davis. If you just want someone to sit back and wait for a runner to tackle then sure he's the guy. Weight will always be a problem as well as stamina. Pass rush non-existent. Brown is good but at what price plus having a QB who has difficulty making passes. From ten picks to five; how can you build through the draft?

I like the moves a lot. I do think they gave up perhaps too much in the trade up but I do like the moves. But I can't give it an A as there are reservations and so I can't go higher than B.

B.  I like Davis, one of the guys I wanted.  I just didn't like how much they gave up to move 2 spots.

Brown is a good WR, he's now paid as a top 4 WR but he's not even a top 10 WR, but still nice to add a legit WR alongside Smith.  Slight injury concerns but hopefully he gets back to that 1,000 yard/8-10 TD production.

I like both players, but I really wanted some other defensive guys and some fell to the late 1st round.  Howie traded with the Saints too early.  Should've waited and either taken another player or traded back to the late 1st.  Started with 3 picks in the 1st and only selected 1.  They desperately need a corner and safety, and this was a good class to take a DE.  Instead we'll have Graham coming off injury or Barnett the walking penalty across from Sweat.

Like other drafts, for me it's not just who they took, but who they didn't.

I gave it B.

Davis could be a game wrecker for our defense for the next 10 years, or he could pull an Albert Haynesworth. I’m hoping for the former.

AJ Brown is a very good WR and I think fits exactly what we needed to add to our WR group. Brown can work every area of the field, Devonta Smith can be an elite slot wr, and Quez is the deep threat.

Our team is better on both sides of the ball, but we only have 4 picks left for this year with 5 rounds to go. I really think there is valuable players in rounds 2-5 and we’re down to 3 picks in that range instead of 6…

Lol… yeah look at #99 in video above.

Just sitting back on his haunches like he’s in a Lazy-boy easy chair… just waiting for a running back to run into him.

A minus. Only minus because of the unnecessary trade up. Had they stood still I am confident he was still there and we need bodies on defense

To improve our current offense we need a good YAC guy like Deebo. However, if you look at the future of  this offense AJ Brown is the right choice. I just don't expect our current offense to be able to fully utilize him unless Hurts has taken massive leaps forward.

Not excited about sending out 3 picks to move up two spots. I would have preferred to save the picks and been happy with whichever the Ravens didn't take but they got their guy.

THIS!

I think they left themselves with little wiggle room for the rest of the draft. To think of all the picks we came in with and we end up with one first round rookie and even fewer later rounds picks. I feel we squandered an opportunity to fill many more holes. Not to mention we didn't help our cap situation.

I'm not even sure why we are including the Brown trade in the draft grade.

B for me. Brown is a home run. The Davis pick was ok. I think we gave up allot to move up for a two down run stopper but oh well. I'm satisfied.

If they could get Booth to have someone other than a tackling dummy to start opposite Slay I'd feel better.

I give it a solid B. Thought they over payed a bit to move up for Davis.  Brown pick caught me completely off guard.  Wondering how cap works out.  Baltimore may be looking for a wr.  Maybe pick up a 3rd for Reagor ?

I’m not real high on the Davis pick but he wasn’t going to be there at 15 with the Ravens at 14.

IMO picking Davis somewhat reminds me of having taken Dickerson last year ONLY in that it comes with risk (for different reasons ... for Dickerson it was his extensive injury history, for Davis it is more effort).  Both can be tremendous additions if the players prove those concerns were not warranted.  So it is hard for me to give a grade ATM.

Even though I hate trading away 1st round picks we did have a need at WR (even if it wasn't our biggest need) and Howie has had trouble with evaluations at the position, so getting someone proven and subsequently signed to a 4 year deal makes a lot of sense.

The biggest sting for me is starting draft weekend with 10 picks and ending day 1 with only 5 picks that we'll be making (at this time).  I do think Howie will wheel and deal to try to add a couple more picks, whether that is trading down with 51 or 83 or dealing Dillard and/or Reagor (or both).

He won't remain a top 4 paid WR for long with how the WR market was completely reset this offseason.  Those guys are getting crazy money now .. .just wait until players like Kupp, Metcalf, Chase, etc. start to cash in.

Move up 2 spots, deal away 2 picks for a 2 down run stopper??? Go figure

Solid A.

Davis was the guy I wanted most given our draft position -- guy is a unicorn based on his testing. People fixating on how he played at Georgia -- he did what he was asked and rotated on the deepest defensive line in the country. Giving up a 4th and 2 5ths doesn't bother me at all -- I'd rather get quality than quantity. Enough of the high motor, low ceiling picks (see Barnett, Derek). Get the freak athletes. As @TEW put it, Davis is high floor and high ceiling.

Speaking of freak athletes, getting Brown for 18+101 when the Cardinals gave up 23 for Hollywood Brown was highway robbery. The contract isn't nuts for a guy who will be 25 when the season starts. Much better than reaching for a WR at 18.

Hopefully they move Dillard for a 3rd or, more likely, a 4th.

I went with A. If I were to be precise, A-.

Im not sure what more people want out of the 13th pick than Davis. He was literally the best defensive player in CFB. And from a physical standpoint, the guy is a lab experiment. He’s a one of one type of athlete. Worst case scenario he’s a run stuffing monster. Best case scenario and you could be looking at a HOFer. Yeah, we gave up some picks to get him. So what? It had to be done because the Ravens would have taken him. This is an A+ type of move for me. When you get a chance to draft a guy like this, you do it.

Brown is a top 10 WR and brings a skill set we lack. We get a proven commodity who is still young. Yeah, we gave up some picks and a big contract to get it over the finish line. But at #18 you’re looking at a 50% bust rate. So we guaranteed ourselves an impact player for the opportunity cost of some money, a third and a 50% chance at a bust. My only real concerns here are the injuries and not maximizing his ability because of QB play, but I suspect the latter gets solved next offseason.

Overall, this is an A. I say A- only because I was heading into this offseason hoping for a carpet bomb effect of high picks. But really, this has been a great draft so far: pro bowl caliber WR, freak show DL, future first and second rounder.

Pretty darn good!
