May 3, 20223 yr The closest way I can explain this pick. I wasn't on board with the pick until Kelce said he liked this guy. Kelce, to me, is a made man in Eagles fandom. He doesn't ask for much but gives a lot. Kelce vouched for this guy and that's all that needed to be said. All-Pro, boom or bust we owed Kelce this pick and I'll never hold it against him.

They play mostly 5-2 hybrid which looks similar to a 3-4 The DEs gotta get used to having a man on their outside hip and understand that they have another rusher outside.

But keep in mind, he's also a company man. He defended and celebrated every coach including Chip Kelly. He's always towing the company line. We also don't "owe" a player to draft the replacement they like. They already had him on their board, they asked his opinion and he loved the guy but it's not like they only drafted a guy because Kelce liked him.

Yeah no way they took him only because of Kelce but to involve him in this way was smart and might lead to him going that extra mile to teach him. Stoutland must have given his blessing too, that’s for sure. And I can’t think of a better situation for a center: Sit behind the best center in the league, with some snaps in one if the best lines, coached by Stoutland and Kelce.. Jurgens got lucky.

I have enough respect for Kelce that once I found out he vouched for the guy then the pick was above reproach for me. I'm not planning on making it a thing but this one time I let the pick go for Kelce. To me, he earned that. Now if the pick turns out to be a masterful pick then Kelce 4 GM.
May 10, 20223 yr I've seen several times that the team is considering letting Jurgens have a go of it at RG. I'm not so sure I can get behind that. Is he even big enough to play guard?

Maybe in practice to learn playing next to Kelce, but I'd think he'd get creamed game day. Where do you play Isaac Semulo if Jurgens starts at RG??

He might be gone. According to ITB the team may try to trade Isaac as he has the most value and is on the last year of his contract.

And that makes sense as I do think he's a good starter in the league so they could get something for him. Makes the Herbig cut a little more confusing though.
August 2, 20223 yr Davis is getting all the praise, and rightfully so, but Jurgens has been tearing it up as well. Looks like another stud lineman for us.

August 2, 20223 yr We all loved the Dickerson pick last year thinking he’ll be Kelces replacement then stood out at guard. Same with Jurgens. Work him at center. We’ll be fine when Kelce decides to go.

He's going to cross train at OH because that's just sensible to do but he's going to be the long term replacement for Kelce.

Wouldn't say we all loved the Dickerson pick when it was made ... many had concerns over his extensive injury history (his talent was never a question). **Knock on wood** so far he has managed to stay healthy and looks like a beast in the making. I'm still nervous about him ... if he makes it through this upcoming season unscathed, that'll pretty much eliminate any concerns.

Everyone loved him but had concerns over his injury. He'll be fine working next to Kelce for another full year.

Dickerson had a much lengthier injury history ... he suffered season ending injuries in all but 1 of his college seasons. He had ACL surgery on his right knee in 2016 after tearing it in practice; right ankle surgery in 2017 after an early-season in-game injury; left ankle surgery in 2018 after an early-season in-game injury; then stayed healthy for 2019 and most of 2020 before he tore his left ACL in the SEC title game. Jones tore his Achilles during his pro day. I'm not sure how playing next to anyone can prevent injury. It could be just a string of bad luck in college couple with not having the same level of training and conditioning that the NFL offers. Fingers crossed the bad luck as it relates to injuries are in his rearview mirror.

Meant when Dickerson is out there and healthy, it would only benefit him with more reps and working next to a guy like Kelce.

Look, I love Dickerson, but everyone on this board knows I wanted Creed in the second round (especially if we could trade down and still get him) as he is a better player and has no injury issues. While Dickerson was great in his rookie season, Creed was historic, grading as the best center in the league and a top four offensive lineman - as a rookie: https://www.si.com/nfl/chiefs/gm-report/can-kc-chiefs-center-creed-humphrey-make-the-leap-to-stardom-in-year-two#gid=ci02a375458000269e&pid=usatsi_17474022 plus I love his name
August 3, 20223 yr We have had this discussion before many times, Creed doesn’t have the athletic ability nor the positional versatility Stout wants, Landon does. So you might have wanted Creed over Landon, but Stout didn’t. We’ll go with his choice. Also Creed would be riding the bench here as he can’t play guard and was not going to start over Kelce at C.

August 6, 20223 yr Also, Jurgens is reportedly doing very, very well in camp. That's encouraging news.
