REPORT: EAGLES GIVE WR JALEN REAGOR PERMISSION TO SEEK TRADE

April 30, 2022

Jalen Reagor

Jalen Reagor’s tenure in Philadelphia could be coming to an end.

It’s no secret that the former first-round pick hasn’t lived up to expectations since entering the league two years ago. Reagor finished the 2021 season with 299 yards on 33 receptions, a step back from the 396 yards he tallied as a rookie.

The Eagles have tried to use the TCU standout in various ways, but nothing has seemed to stick. It doesn’t help that Reagor has constantly been compared to Minnesota WR Justin Jefferson, who was selected one pick after Reagor in the 2020 draft. The Vikings wideout dominated the NFL this year, recording over 1,600 yards and ten touchdowns.

A fresh start with a new team could very much be on the horizon as a source confirms Philly has given the struggling wideout permission to seek a trade.

It was widely speculated that Reagor could’ve been moved during the draft. With no deal culminating over the weekend, the Eagles have allowed him to find a potential trade partner before releasing the 23-year-old outright.

During the Eagles’ exit interview in January, Sirianni stated that they want more production from Reagor but the team still likes him as part of the offense moving forward:

"As we head into year three, we expected more from Jalen [Reagor] at this point. We had a chance to sit down with him after the season and had an honest conversation about the things that he needs to develop and the things that we can help him develop to continue his growth.

We want more production from Jalen Reagor, and he has all the talent to do so. I like him in that number three spot right now, to be able to make plays, because he has skill. He has talent. It’s just our jobs as coaches to get that skill and talent out of him.”

The Eagles traded the No. 18 overall pick and a third-round selection for Pro Bowl WR AJ Brown on Thursday night. Reagor then subsequently removed all traces of the team from his Instagram account.

With DeVonta Smith, AJ Brown, Quez Watkins, and Zach Pascal poised to be at the top of the rotation, Reagor appears to be the odd man out.

A mutual split seems imminent for both sides.

That was fast.  Ciao.  AJ in, JR out.  Howie is exorcising his demon quickly.  JJAW likely won't make the team either.

Reagor's agent: "Jalen really wants permission to seek a trade."

Howie: "Oh, no, this isn't the time for this negotiation. We've really invested a lot in helping Jalen succeed... Hold on a minute. Jalen who?"

Reagor's agent: "Reagor."

Howie: "Hahahaha, Phew! I thought you meant... yeah, fine, whatever. let us know how that works out."

What’s the going rate for a first round receiver who is a total bust?  I mean, I’m sure teams will be lining up for his services.

Time after time Reagor shows how bad his mental game is.

He can make spectacular catches, we‘ve seen him do it before. And then he just can‘t deal with the pressure.

I wish him a move to a team with less noise and media. He might even be decent there.

Daddy played for the Broncos and Colts. Maybe one of those will take him. Worked with the Eagles.

Hopefully Reagor and his agent are aware we can’t trade him to the USFL or Arena League.

It always bothers me when a guy would seek a trade because he doesn't want to compete and fight for a position.  Yeah, it would be difficult but does he think he'll go somewhere and it'll be handed to him?

The eagles WR corps has 2 spots locked down and he has the possibility of earning a lot of playing time and earning a 2nd contract or putting himself in good situation for free agency.

Geez, put your head down, work your a-- off and earn a spot.......

I don't think he has the talent to get that result and I suspect he doesn't think so either.

Well, there's no doubt that his confidence is damaged.....but I think he has the talent to be productive.

He was a 2nd round talent who was taken too early, and hasn't lived up to first round expectations.  I think Sirianni and Morehead will give him every chance to turn things around.

I would've loved for him to become an impact player for the Eagles, but I think that ship has sailed. He reportedly wiped all his social media stuff and isn't following the Eagles any more. Per the above article, it's also reported that he's been given permission to seek a trade. I think his time here is over.

I hated the pick long before he proved he wasn’t a good player, long before Jefferson put up historic numbers.  I disliked the pick the second it was announced, I knew it was a huge mistake and had no idea how those that do this for a living couldn’t see it.  I’ll be too happy to see him go and honestly don’t care about getting anything in return.  Just go.

Goes back to Weidl/Raiche comments. This isn't rocket science. Pick good players from the best teams and your odds of success go way up

Going through these comments, it's painfully clear that a large percentage of people will believe something simply because it is in writing

I don't think a trade is in the cards. Too many teams have a host of receivers and even if a team has a spate of injuries those teams can fill the gap with better prospects than Reagor. Problem is cap numbers dictate that cutting him will be painful.

My predictions - a mysterious injury puts him on IR so we can actually use the roster spot.

The Ravens don't... i thought during the draft he was gone for 1 of their 4th round picks...hell

at this point trade him straight up for their safety Clark..they got like 4 of them.

I'd love to see it - BUT. I don't think that fair value for the Ravens. Clark was a fairly accomplished starter. Whenever Reagor was on the field there was a hole in our offense.

If we were to deal with the Ravens for Clark, I'd guess it would be Minshew for Clark and a draft pick.

I hope a team is willing to give up a pick because the cap hit if they cut his like $8 million. So, if no trade, I suspect they keep him and don't play him.
