That's a big bold thanks to you all.

Veteran's Day is for thanking all who have served.  Memorial Day is for remembering those that died while serving.  Just saying that there's a difference between the two days and they serve specific purposes, so while I'm sure those that have served appreciate the sentiment, it's not what the holiday is about.

Not for me. I don't follow quick, hard rules. I thank them and remember them always.  Your milage may vary.

If you want to consider both holidays as being the same, that's certainly your prerogative.  I'm merely pointing out that they are not the same and exist for specific reasons.

If I wanted to nit pick, I'd report the thread as off topic and not belonging in tate.

 

I'm sorry you can't grasp the difference in a specific holiday for soldiers killed in service and a holiday just for all that serve.  It's kind of a big and important difference.

I revere all of our servicemen and women past and present. Sure, there are two holidays, Veterans Day and Memorial Day, but why would anyone object to thanking, remembering, or mentioning either the living or the dead at any time an all?

Personally, I believe thanking a Veteran is a means of paying homage to his or her comrades who gave the ultimate gift to us all. 

I don't generally, criticize anyone for stating their opinion in these forums, but this is an exception. Talonblood should be ashamed that a wonderful and heartfelt post was turned into this stupid and unnecessary thread. His idea of sharing his view is simply a manifestation of why social media as a whole is counterproductive. I've rarely seen this type of stupidity and trolling on these Eagles Message Board forums and hope it doesn't become the norm.

I posted a heartfelt thread. Then someone finds a way to criticize it. Then YOU tell me I should be ashamed. Not going to happen. There are some weird people on the internet, and I have seen 2 of them here.

Some do not like being thanked for their service on memorial day.... Found out the hard way. Told someone that works for me who served, Thank You and he said " this is for the fallen service men and women not me and you guys should know the difference and not be so ignorant.

I can understand the thought behind pointing out the meaning of Memorial Day, but it should be done in a more gracious way. It's NEVER inappropriate or 'ignorant' to thank a vet for his or her service, regardless of which day it's done on. 

If it were me, I'd show my appreciation for your words by thanking you for thanking me. If I were to even mention the meaning of Memorial Day though, it would be something like "Let's also remember all of those who never made it home to be thanked, and keep them in our thoughts as often as we can...", or something along those lines.

As always thank you for your service VA eagle! I don't think he was trying to be mean about it but, I didn't think it was a big deal and I even said I was sorry for sounding ignorant. I asked him some questions about all that so I could have s better understanding for certain things. That seemed to make him happy that I was willing to learn and be more appropriate with those kinds of things. 

Thank you for your words as well. It's never my intention to be ignorant. Arrogant yes lol.

I didn't get offended at all.  It appears you are the one that rushed to judgement and got offended.  I simply pointed out what the purpose of the day is.  It's been a week, let it go and move on already.
