Posted May 20, 20204 yr I started this thread on the old board and figured it's time to revive it here. This thread is to talk about games I like. Anything from the SNES days through to now. That way I'm not starting a thread for every game that pops into my head, I will keep it all in this thread. My gaming has taking a pretty huge dip in the last 5 years. The current gen has probably been the one that I haven't invested as much time into. However with a lack of sports and the movies being shut down I have found myself gaming a bit again. I just purchased Xbox Game Pass last month and that has probably contributed to the revival a little bit. I stacked the 3 years of live and paid the $1 upgrade. Prior to that I was playing a bit of Madden 20, but here is the new list for discussion below Overcooked 2 This is one of the Gamepass games. The concept seems pretty ridiculous and I was completely lost the first time I touched this game. I started playing more and once I made sense of what was going on it became pretty addictive. So addictive that I ended up getting all the achievements associated with the original game, the first time I have done that since Season 2 of The Walking Dead game. Tekken 7 The game is actually pretty good, however the loading times are brutal and the DLC is laughably overpriced. Arcade mode was super short as well, I think ti was only 4 or 5 fights before you complete it. If I could get over how slow the load times were I'd probably go back and play the story. Mortal Kombat X So after Tekken I thought I'd try Mortal Kombat. The load times are much faster but the controls felt a little clunky. It might be a bit of the learning curve involved but it wasn't total trash which is a plus. I might go back and play this as well at some point. It's a nice freebie for the time being. Streets of Rage 4 Throwback beat 'em up game that took a little getting used to the first time around. I was never great at these types of games (Double Dragon I sucked a**) but I figured I'd give it a shot. I finished the first two stages and got my whopping C rating as my highest. I have no idea how I'm going to get an S on any of the stages Double Dragon Neon After trying Streets of Rage I thought I'd try Double Dragon Neon since I remember playing II on my Gameboy when I was a kid. It's an old 360 arcade title so the graphics aren't as clean which would be pretty obvious. It wasn't bad so I might split time between these two if I feel like playing something a little different. Madden 20 After playing the crap out of 16 and 17 (with about 379 hours on 17), I hated 18 and barely touched 19. I wasn't sure if I should buy 20 and if I would invest any time in it but I bought it anyway since I'd need a football fix at some point. I have enjoyed it a lot more than the previous 2 years and have ended up playing around 282 hours of mainly franchise mode . It's probably been the catalyst of pulling me back into games and the Franchise mode hasn't been complete balls. I haven't touched UT since I was pretty pissed with the route they went in 18 to try and force you to pay real cash to build a team. The game play has been pretty sound although it can be annoying sometimes. The AI adapts though, if you run it 10 straight times they will key in on the RB and same goes if you run the same play 4 or 5 times in the game, they will recognise and adjust their players to counter that play. NBA 2K20 I have been pretty critical of the NBA games since 2K13. I hated the control changes they made in 14 and it made the game virtually unplayable for me. I bought 2K17 to try and give it another chance but it was also straight trash and sold it to a friend a couple days after I purchased it. I have heard they have been declining since then and 2K has been copping a lot of ish for the production of their games significantly dropping in quality and becoming about cash (VC) much like EA. It turns out 2K20 was a free game with Gamepass so I figured why not give it a shot. While I'm still not a fan of the control layout (crossovers and shooting on the same stick) I have found it doesn't pull up for random pump fakes as much which is a plus. I also found the shot timing pretty frustrating. I'd pull up and the meter would be basically full but the shots would rim out just about every time. I'd shoot early and they would go in. It was worse with layups and I with some players instead of dunking they would try and layup and would flat out miss even though it was almost perfect. I turned the meter on layups off and I've had greater success, I'm just getting a little annoyed with the fact that guys like Embiid won't dunk when it should be triggering him to dunk with what I hit. Overall it feels a lot more like the 2K11-2K13 of golden era basketball games in terms of controls so I have started playing it a bit and haven't despised it like I did with 2K14 and 2K17. It is currently on sale on the virtual store for about $5 which is also sweet so I just bought it outright. The soundtrack and commentary are pretty trash compared to the earlier games though. Rockband 4 Still a really fun game and is pretty great way to kill time when I just want to maybe chill for 25 minutes or so. They're constantly releasing new tracks which is a plus, although I'm not going to buy a lot of the more recent releases. Trivial Pursuit I'm on a bit of a trivia kick and I have a Trivial Pursuit Game from years ago. I started playing it recently with my aunt and we would go head to head. It's fun, but one thing that frustrates me is once the last round hits, it doesn't matter how many points you're on, you just need to have X amount of wedges to win the game. So if I have 19,000 points I could have 4 wedges, but so can the person on 15,000 points. If I get one question wrong in the final round I lose if they win out.

May 21, 20204 yr Ive played a million hours of the new COD. Warzone is awesome. That being said if there wasn't a pandemic going on I probably would be playing 1/100th the amount of it.

June 17, 20204 yr Author I played the ish out of Double Dragon Neon. I got up to the last stage which turns out to be a 30+ minute level. Furthest I made it was to the boss but I think it's a double boss fight and I died. I haven't picked it back up in a couple of weeks. After that I started playing a game I picked up for a whopping $1 on Xbox 360 called Def Jam Rapstar. It's basically like Sing Star but with rap hits. It's annoying because all the tracks are the radio edits so some of the lyrics have been changed. It did the job entertaining me for a couple of days and I'd wish I had known about it when it was first released because the DLC is legit. I started paying the original Overcooked and I'm finding it harder than number 2. World 6 I'm barely 1 starring the stages. I need to go back at some point and finish the game. There were a few weekly challenges for Xbox Game Pass so I downloaded and tried a couple of the games. Journey to the Savage Planet I couldn't really get into at all. I just don't think I have the attention span for these kinds of games anymore. I also tried out Marvel vs Capcom Infinite for another weekly challenge and I was a bit meh on it. I probably won't go back to that either. I've been playing a bit of NBA 2K20 the last few days and starting the MyPlayer portion. The 'story' is freaking awful. I forwarded through the majority of the cut scenes from the end of the combine. The Neighborhood is an interesting addition and it's not bad playing pick up games. The frustrating part is the lag making it difficult for me to know where the release point is and the teammates jacking up bad 3's over and over again.
June 18, 20204 yr my kid & i play the ish out of nba 2k20. i mostly play my league because i enjoy building teams...the kid does my player & my league. really fun game but yeah, there are some quirks. the embiid dunking thing could be in his tendencies. personally, i think they downgraded him in 2k since he's on the cover of nba live...he doesn't really progress from his current level. anyway, i only play for fun...turn salary caps off & put it on the easiest level so i can dunk all over fools!
June 19, 20204 yr Author Speaking of dunking on fools, Simmons dunking ability in this game is insane. If Ben could drive in real life like he can on 2K he would be unstoppable.

I still hate how lethal Derrick Rose's drives and dunks were in whatever version of 2K was newest during my March/April/May unemployment of 2014.
July 25, 20204 yr Author I've been cleaning through my cabinet with all my consoles and tried testing them all out once I finished tonight. I haven't played a lot of them in a long time so I thought I'd do a quick test run to see if they worked Snes has no audio and it won't read the controller unless you unplug it and plug it back in after it's powered on N64 won't power on at all. It actually powered up for 15 seconds after changing the port on the powerboard and then nada Original Xbox disc tray is extra cooked. I knew about this problem before but the disc tray wouldn't close and then after about 80 attempts it would eventually work. Now it needs to be forced shut after powering it down. All the others worked thankfully, but I didn't realise how bad the picture quality would be on my TV. The PS1 looks like a blur of text. I still haven't tested my handhelds yet but I'm already depressed enough so I'll leave that for another time.
July 25, 20204 yr Of course the PlayStation worked. Could have told you that and saved you the time bruh!

I picked it up since it was only $5. Having a lot of fun with my team. Trying to build a dominant all time team. Kind of cool having Jason Kidd lob passes to Hakeem Olajuwon and Paul Pierce.
September 24, 20204 yr latching onto this thread; CBS All Access Council Wars (SEGA VS Nintendo)...meh, don't watch if you want a history of SEGA games or Nintendo games...this is all about SEGA taking on Ninedo back in the beginning. Was ok for a time killer. Interesting way it was presented.
August 21, 20213 yr Author Time for an update on what I have been playing lately. My last couple posts were deleted when the board crashed months ago and I can't even remember what they were so I'm just going to go with what I've been running with recently. Fight Night Champion This kind of got me back into the swing of gaming. I hadn't really played much in a while and felt like going back to a boxing game. I played this pretty solidly for a couple of months, mainly the Legacy Mode since I had already completed Champion Mode when this game was released years ago. It was still a ton of fun and the graphics are pretty nice on the XBOX One digital copy. I'm not sure how it would look on my 360 in comparison. Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy I've been wanting to play something other than a sports game for a while but I haven't been able to commit time to it since I can go days not playing something, forget the controls and get frustrated. Sports games had been my go too since they were simple pick up and play to kill time but I had wanted to go for a Platformer or something with a story. I landed on Crash. These games are a hell of a lot harder than I remember when I was 10. I ended up finishing all of the first one including all of the bonus gems. I didn't bother with the time trials since I always suck at those. I've gotten 3 quarters of the way through 2 but it has gone on the backburner the last couple of weeks. It's really easy to get caught up in trying to do something relatively simple but screwing it up and wasting 20 lives. I'm also finding it harder to judge jumps and nail certain movements with the analogue stick. I feel this is one that would work better with the D-Pad but the placement is pretty sucky on the XBOX controller. They're still a ton of fun and I'll probably get back to 2 and then move onto 3 soon after. Quantum Break This game is really cool and I wish I had played it earlier. I had bought it years ago on sale since it came with Alan Wake and I had always wanted to play that. Like most of my games, it got put aside and I never touched it. There was a Game Pass quest to get 3 headshots in this game and I started playing it. The graphics are amazing and the cast is pretty rock solid for a game so I kept playing. What is super impressive is they actually have 20 odd minute live action episodes between each act of the story. It has worked out pretty well because I was needing something to break up Crash Bandicoot when I was getting stuck on levels so I started this. Eventually this has taken over and I'm up to the last act now. I should hopefully finish it by the end of the week. The downside has been I'll come away from the game for a few days or a week and forget which of the buttons does what in terms of the time freeze moves. So I spend half an hour or so readjusting before getting into the swing of it. NBA 2K21 The other just pick up and play to kill time game. It has been on game pass and some nights I just have an hour or so to kill before bed so I'll play a game or two of this. I hate this one much more than last years but it's a bit of a love hate relationship since I come back to it. I find the shooting a lot more tedious (even with the new controls turned off) and the AI hits fricken everything. I'll play on the perimeter and they just drive by. I've found by D to be far more effective if I play as the 5 and just roam around the paint. Even then, if they're any kind of open they hit it and if some stuff is semi contested for me my guys miss. It comes off game pass this month so I am contemplating if I buy it anyway for around the $20 it currently sits at. I'm leaning towards no because.... Madden 22 I pre-ordered this through Amazon. The shipping has been delayed and it is due to arrive Monday or Tuesday. Having said that, I don't know why I bought this one because I barely played last years and I read next to nothing on it going in and something tells me it will be as good as the Eagles. Anyway, I guess I'll find out when it arrives if it is worth it or if it will collect dust.

I'm guessing it's going to hang around that price for a while. 4 hours ago, Agent23 said: Maybe one day you’re country will get internet and you can download games to not wait on Amazon. September 5, 20231 yr Author Bumping this since I haven't seen a thread for it Has anyone bought the new Madden? I don't love it but I don't hate it. I've only screwed around in quickplay so far.
