Because the parents have to request, meet, and comply with the school in order to get a plan in place? The school is already overburdened? It sounds like the dad put it in his own hands, some old-fashioned man-it-up discipline would solve him.

September 6, 20241 yr In an ideal world, formalized school accomodations/resources for kids academically or behaviorally (eg 504 /IEP) should he reviewed and formalized before the school year to ensure a smooth transition of services from one school to another. The barriers are rough though. They're lengthy evaluations so reviewing a lot of them is really tough. They require buy in/engagement from the previous teacher, the new teacher, and parent(s). They need everyone to be organized enough to actually get the records over to the new school. And technically only public schools have a legal obligation to provide/follow these accomodations whereas private/charter/religious schools often give way less support for a number of reasons. So long story short I'm not really surprised if a behavioral plan wasn't implemented. Nor am I confident a behavioral plan would have done much here unfortunately.

September 6, 20241 yr At least we can all agree that high school kids would never call another kid "gay" without firm proof that it is in fact true.

I was legitimately confused by "discussed his frustration with the "acceptance of trans people." That would mean he's frustrated that trans people are accepted. Could just be poor sentence structure. Dude has a cybertruck as his profile pic, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say he isn't too bright.
September 6, 20241 yr the kid grew up on a farm in georgia with a gun nut father....he's an obvious sheetlib!
September 6, 20241 yr Is he gay and a tranny sympathizer, or are these just more of the latest right wing fantasies? edit: Oh, his dad. Seems like a stellar source of trustworthy info. Almost as good as the kid's mom.
September 6, 20241 yr No, it sounds like he was either gay or weird enough to where a bunch of macho rednecks bullied him enough about it that he snapped. The kid fits the profile of a school shooter to a t. "Approximately 88% of school shooters had at least one social media account, and 76% posted disturbing content of guns and threatening messages. Over 72% of shooters had at least one reported adverse childhood experience, and 60% reported being bullied in-person or online " https://www.jpedhc.org/article/S0891-5245(21)00290-X/fulltext

The account referenced Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter, and in separate posts shared a desire to target an elementary school and expressed frustration that transgender people were being accepted in society.

Yep. And I recall some years ago there was a gun thread where many of them posted pics of their gun collections. Kinda seems to fit the profile.

September 6, 20241 yr never mind @Gannan I see it in that long emoji list. I need to use those more often
September 6, 20241 yr You have to first accept reality. Shootings will happen, as long as there are guns, and idiots willing to kill others to prove a point, or for fun, or as an experiment, whatever. The stupid assertions about armed teachers, and guards in schools, is a crock. Putting more guns in schools will not reduce shootings. How do I know this? We can't stop shootings at campaign events where there were teams of good guys with guns, and all the latest equipment. All of the common sense stuff, talked about for years, can lower the number of shootings. Universal background checks. Requiring a license. A sensible red flag law. These would work, and a majority of people support them, I believe.

Always wondered why terrorist never adopted this type of attack.
