Training camp begins on July 26 for our Philadelphia Eagles.  I thought I'd start a thread to serve as a repository for all TC related updates.

Kicking this off with this nugget from Kempski:

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Tyree Jackson celebrates his first career touchdown with quarterback Gardner Minshew.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Tyree Jackson and offensive lineman Brett Toth will begin training camp on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, according to a source.

The PUP list is a tool teams use for players prior to the start of training camp, in case the player is not ready for the start of the regular season. The PUP list must be applied to a player prior to the start of training camp, or it cannot be used at all. Once a player practices in camp, at all, they immediately become ineligible for the PUP list during the regular season. The player cannot participate in practice while on the PUP list.

The benefit of the PUP list is that a player is eligible to come off of it during training camp, or, if the team deems it necessary, after the first four games of the regular season. Once the regular season starts and the player remains on the PUP list, they must spend the first four weeks on the PUP list, and they would not count toward one of the 53 roster spots. (They would still count toward one of the 90 roster spots while on PUP during training camp.)

The Eagles typically do not announce players headed to the PUP list until after they report for camp, in case any surprises emerge from the players' time off. While Jackson and Toth will go on PUP, that does not necessarily mean there won't be more players on it as well.

Tyree Jackson

Entering 2021 training camp, Jackson was thought of as an intriguing developmental player who was transitioning from quarterback to tight end. At 6'7, 249 pounds, Jackson has excellent size for the position, and athleticism to go along it with. However, being new to the position, it was expected that progress would come along slowly.

Jackson exceeded expectations, making several nice plays each day throughout camp, while showing surprisingly good hands and continuously improved route running, to the point where he was looking like a lock to make the team. Unfortunately, Jackson injured his back (an 8-10 week injury) during joint practices against the Patriots, causing him to miss eight regular season games. In the Eagles' meaningless Week 18 game against Dallas, Jackson caught his first career TD pass, but he also tore an ACL later in that game.

Jackson remains an intriguing player that the team will try to continue to develop, but for now he is still rehabbing his knee.

Brett Toth

Toth also tore an ACL in that Week 18 game against Dallas. He has mostly played at offensive tackle for the Eagles, but interestingly, he played center in that matchup.

Toth has appeared in nine games in the Eagles' regular offense over the last two years, despite being a fringe roster guy who has ping-ponged back and forth between the Eagles and Cardinals.

Report date is the 26th, but the first actual practice is on the 27th.

I looked for a second to find what practices are open to the public, the only one I found was the August 7th practice in Lincoln Financial. Are you telling me that is the only training camp practice open to the public? Does the NovaCare complex not have the facilities for fans to attend?

Sounds right. It’s been a joke since the Eagles stopped going to Lehigh for training camp. One or two — and I guess one is the new norm now — practices that are open to the public. But they expect you to give a donation to attend. And good luck trying to find a seat in the upper deck.

One practice open to the public (on Aug 7th).  Ticket price is $10.

The Packers have 12 practices open to the public and it's free. Practice is at Ray Nitschke Field. There is about 2,500 capacity in the bleacher seats that lines one side of the field. There is also standing room behind fencing around the field. About 3,600 are at those practices.

Then they have Family Night in Lambeau Field which draws 80K. It used to be a scrimmage, but the last 5 years it has been a glorified practice.

All teams should have to make multiple practices open to fans during camp and at no charge.
