June 3, 20205 yr Must not be an Eagles fan and disappointed over on that of in the Vikings not going to the Super Bowl!
June 9, 20205 yr Author Now one of my co-workers is looking to have my apply for a similar position with one of our largest competitors, who happens to be based here out of the Syracuse area (defeats the need to relocate). I worked with them for a bit over 3 years when I was fresh out of college and then spent another 1.25 years with them (aka, business unit they own) in Connecticut... My best guess is the role would essentially be the same "level" that I took with my current company a little over 4 years ago, so it would't shock me if that role is around $15k a year below where I'm at now (before factoring any annual bonuses they do/don't offer over there). When I re-joined in CT there was talk early on about retaining my years of service (which counts towards vacation accumulation, etc.) but I feel like when I got hired on they completely F'ed me out of all of that (likely someone in HR dropped the ball and just didn't care to do anything about it after the fact). I have my first live conversation with the company's recruiter on Friday, so I try to get a better idea of how they plan on addressing compensation and benefits.
June 10, 20205 yr Pretty sure shopping is going to be limited. Should be able to score some sweet street corner bargains after hours though.
June 26, 20205 yr Author So I have moved on from wanting a second car that I have around just for a play toy in the summer. Now my desire is to give my mom my current car (her's is 15 years old, 250k+ miles, and on its last legs) and then just buy something more boujee for myself. Test drove a CT4 and CT5 last night but wasn't really wowed by either (though the CT5 would be my clear winner of the two). Tonight I'm test driving a couple different BMW 330 engine trim levels (sadly no M340s in local inventory). Wondering if there is anything else in a similar class/price range that people would recommend for me to test drive.

Those Lebron James/Blake Griffen endorsements don't mean anything do they? genesis g70 and g80 - same as above. Isn't Hyundai/Genesis considered fail? VW arteon - in this case wouldn't audi make a bigger splash? my key word was being boujee lol A class Mercedes - would have to check their website again. I feel like I didn't care for the appearance of the car Audi S3, S4, or A5 - this may get added to the list. In general I think I would be open to a sub-15k certified pre-owned if it means jumping up a class or two (in either of the brands) but paying a price similar or even below a new version of the lesser class model

June 26, 20205 yr buy a normally priced vehicle and a motorcycle instead. itd probably be cheaper and motorcycles are cooler anyway.

The giulia quadrifoglio looks amazing imo https://www.alfaromeousa.com/cars/giulia/quadrifoglio and the regular guilias look very much the same. -The Kia is honestly probably the best car of all that I listed. Honestly. The Stinger came out in 2018 and I believe was labeled as the best/most reliable new car ever. Really no issues at all, especially impressive for a 1st model year. They have all been just as good since, and you have the best warranty there is. Kia isnt completely a laughing stock anymore. Its shifted to up and coming largely in part to the Stinger but the opinion started to shift well before that. Of course, you still might not feel cool enough with a KIA badge. The first think a lot of Stinger owners do to their car is swap out the KIA sumbol on the front bumper with the E (Engineered by Excellence) badge that KIA uses in Korea. Seen below on a Stinger GTS. Kia actually took their badge off the trunk after the 2018 model year. It says stinger across the trunk now. If you replaced the front emblem youll have no Kia branding outside the car. You can watch every car review channel on YouTube and all rave about every Stinger they drive no matter the trim, even the 4 cylinder one. You can even find some who will compare it to other cars in the class including an Audi or Arteon and they still love it. -If you kinda like the stinger but cant get over the brand badge, the G70 is the same car just a bit more luxury looking. Kia/Hyundai are sister companies, and Hyundai owns Genesis which is its upscale brand. Toyota has Lexus. Honda has Acura. Nissan has Infiniti. Hyundai has Genesis. They are all supposed to be in the same class. Infiniti and Acura depreciate quickly and their cars are often the junkers being driven around Hazleton replacing the old Civics as the new brands of ricers. I would say Genesis should be held in much higher regard than those companies. Its just newer and less recognized at this point. That could add to intrigue and some head turning ability of the car. I see a ton of BMWs and Audi's on the roads. I see a ton of junky infinitis and acuras. I even see pretty many stingers. I dont think Ive seen a G70 that I can recall recently. And being a Hyundai brand, you still get a great warranty with the genesis. -You have a point on the VW. Youll get more for your money with the Arteon, just not the company logo you are looking for.

For years and years I recall all these 10yr/100,000mi commercials with them that was basically double anyone else. If I recall correctly they dropped things down to more of a 5yr/50k more closely reflecting the rest of the market. I did recently learn that they spun Genesis off into their luxury line instead of just a high-end trim level.

I'm already dropping the max into my 401k that I'm able to (I think like $19,500/yr) and after getting all my other ish paid off a couple months ago my monthly recurring payments has dropped by like $2200/mo... the last few cars I've had I only owned/drove for 4-5 years so I'm hoping to get something that I can hopefully keep for 8-10 years or that will still have 50% more resale value (compared to what I've had) if I do decide to offload it earlier. Plus my position Level at work jumped last year and I finally got to partake in the annual bonus (about $11,500), so I feel like I can finally take advantage of not having to be the money fountain for a wife and kids.

Genesis is a brand of its own now, above Hyundai just like as I said Lexus is above Toyota, Acura is above Honda, and Infiniti is above Nissan. Genesis G70 in its first year existing won North American car of the year for 2019 and JD Power #1 ranked sport compact car in quality. Kia/Hyundai/Genesis still have the 10/100k powertrain warranty. 5/60K basic which is still one of the best available. https://www.genesis.com/us/en/2020/genesis-g70.html

He doesnt have a family to provide a great home for. His house can be relaxing any time he wants to relax whether its super nice or something on the cheaper end. Maybe the car is his true sanctuary and so, he deserves that to be nice.

While my driving should change drastically (since we will be working remote indefinitely and if/when I move to Minneapolis, I'll probably live within 15 miles of work at the furthest), I've averaged OVER 20,000 miles a year in my car the past 4 that I've had it (with a 60ish mile round trip daily commute just to work) and even before that and times when I lived 7ish miles from work, I still averaged at least 15,000/yr, if not more... so I do spend a LOT of time in my car for not having a driving-based job.
June 26, 20205 yr yeah, i'm conservative with my spending...and not really a car person. but if that's what he wants to spend his $$ on, hopefully he gets something nice while being practical at the same time. maybe a nissan bladeglider!
June 26, 20205 yr Author Oh, looking up this stinger... I dislike their fuel economy I need afaster than 4.7s 0-60 for a 6cyl to only get me 17cty/25hwy.
