What are some warning signs for Hurts to look out for in camp?

I think the main thing would be his accuracy on throwing to the middle of the field and in traffic, or if he is trying to make those throws at all.

If theres no noticeable change in that area that could be a warning sign this version of Hurts is not going to be much different from last years.

I'm not sure how much we will be able to figure from TC. If he looks better then great that's encouraging but it doesn't mean he's going to light it up this year. Likewise if he struggles that doesn't mean he's going to have a bad year.

Hearing that he saw Watkins and still ran for it is a huge warning sign IMO

He struggled in red zone practices last year.

Throwing over the middle, progression, running too early. Apparently, he scrambled when he should have hit Watkins yesterday. At least that is what a lot of media people mentioned.

Crutches… if he starts showing up to camp wearing crutches… we’re in trouble.

More seriously, for me, is him holding the ball too long. If he isn’t getting the ball out quicker than last year, he’s still not sure what he’s looking at when reading the defense. Which will turn in to him tucking and running when the games start.

I want to see confidence. Especially in the red zone when you have to make quick reads and execute. He's had one year experience off-the-bench, plus one full year as a starter under Sirianni, so he should be ready to take off. I think accuracy will develop once he's comfortable with the plays, packages, and personnel he's working with. This year it all has to come together.

Besides his weak arm and lack of accuracy, boneheaded decisions killed us last year. We won't really know until the regular season starts. I doubt he plays a snap in the preseason.

If he rolls to the right before getting to his 3rd read. Even one time.

anytime he passes is a warning sign

still being short with his deep passes, running too often in option scenarios, accuracy issues especially if they are present in short yardage or goal line situations are some the things i'm keeping an ear out for. we wont know too much till the first regular season game.  the hype associated with TC is usually insane. any little mistake anyone makes will been blown out of proportion too.

I don't think we'll see any signs for real until regular season game 1. We won't see any actual gameplan until then.

If the offensive gameplan in season is still run-oriented (including Hurts running as the go-to option on 3rd and medium like it was last year) we'll have our sign right there that Hurts hasn't made improvement as a passer.

This will be a boneheaded decision by Sirianni.

I guess the big question is, is throwing a football something you can get better at if you just do it over and over, like average everyman Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow when he just keeps training and dying until he becomes a super-warrior?

ie is Tom Brady the GOAT because he was born with GOAT talent, or because he was been playing forever and just getting better and better?

If that's what the management/coaches believe, then we're looking at a pretty long takeoff ramp for Hurts. As long as he is showing slight improvements they will probably keep sticking with him until something much better can drop into their laps.

The big warning sign is when you start hearing fans criticize him. Once fan doubts are on the table, it's all over for that player. Next!

Bonus points for Edge of Tomorrow reference. Great movie.

We talking about practice...

If you're simply speaking of throwing a football, absolutely, but throwing a catchable pass is more involved.

When throwing a pass one has to take into account you're typically throwing to a moving target so how much to lead the target, the velocity, and trajectory of the pass all play crucial roles in whether or the target receives the pass.

Yeah it's a very patient fanbase not known for criticizing players.

This might be the best post in the history of Eagles social media

TC isn't really going to make or break the season, because they work on specific things and it's a controlled environment.

Having said that it's a little discouraging to hear that in said environment he's:

Throwing a mile behind players

Getting picked (shouldve been multiple)

Choosing to run instead of hitting wide open players.

Now obviously it's the first one and means very little, but the warning signs that have always been there are still popping up as of now.

Frankly this camp will tell us little about this team as a whole. They will practice very little in camp and we will see little to nothing of first and second string players in the preseason. All of the new faces will basically have to figure out how to play together in the regular season.
