CLEVELAND – When the Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, OH, it will culminate the team’s extended trip to Ohio, having participated in joint practices with the Browns.

During those two sessions, a few players stood out, looking to leave their mark before another five players must be cut before the 4 p.m. Tuesday deadline.

Several Eagles have a lot to gain from a good performance against the Browns, ranging from players coming back from an injury to those emerging late as legitimate candidates to earn a roster spot.

Here are the seven players who have the most to gain from Sunday’s game against the Browns:

Strong did not take a snap in the first preseason game against the Jets. Strong has had his issues during training camp, trying to get acclimated to being an NFL signal-caller. Although it looks like he is destined to the practice squad, having Strong get as many reps as possible in game-like situations will go a long way to helping with his development overall.

RB Kennedy Brooks
Brooks needs a standout performance with the top-three running back spots all but a lock. Brooks is improving as training camp goes on. When it comes to practices, Brooks does not get the chance to show his ability to break tackles and gain those tough yards in short-yardage situations because it is a controlled environment.

RB/KR Jason Huntley
Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell are back, meaning Huntley may not get the 41 snaps on the field, just as he did in the first preseason game. Huntley has flashed on the outside runs, but his ability to be a kick returner could be the thing that gives him a chance to make the roster. Last week, Huntley had a 43-yard return. If he duplicates that performance against the Browns, he will make it challenging for the Eagles not to keep him on the roster.

TE Noah Togiai
Togiai has been a reliable option as a receiver in the middle of the field for both Gardner Minshew and Reid Sinnett, using his ability to sit in the zones effectively. The Eagles have a lot of tight ends and will have to make some tough decisions. If the Eagles decide they cannot keep him on the roster and go in another direction, he could be used as a trade chip to acquire another player to address a different position.
Coming back from a hamstring injury, Calcaterra will look to get the first game action of his career. Early in camp, Calcaterra looked like he could be a second receiving target at tight end, finding ways to get open and catch the ball cleanly. The competition is close at the position, but the sixth-round pick seems to have the skills necessary to be a second or third tight end on the team.

DE Tarron Jackson
Jackson has had a good showing against the Browns, getting consistent pressure on Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has been relegated to the second-team offense due to his upcoming suspension. Jackson is trying to show he can be a reliable pass-rushing specialist, making the case that he should not only be on the 53-man roster but also be a regular contributor and not inactive during the regular season.

CB Josh Jobe
Jobe, an undrafted free agent out of Alabama, has played with the second-team defense. Jobe is a good man-to-man cover corner and has shown that going stride for stride with Browns receivers this week. Jobe looks like he has healed from his foot injury and has put himself in a position to earn one of the final cornerback spots.

What do people think the chances of Jobe making it are then? I keep reading good things on him.

I’m pulling for him to have a good showing Saturday against Miami and make the roster.  We need some solid young prospects to groom.  We have a lot of young corners but not sure you can say a lot of them are decent prospects.  Jobe I think can be one worth developing.

I’d say pretty good if they keep 5. Maybe a lock if they keep 6:

Slay, Bradberry, Maddox are locks.

I’d say I have little doubt Zech makes it.

That leaves 1-2 roster spots.
