August 26, 20223 yr Either they planned to stow him anyway and they wanted to see what they have in Sinnett or, despite the arm, there is just something that doesn't work with him. Is there an issue and is it fixable? Don't know and they aren't saying. There is a lot to this game that we don't even consider. We've seen some tough successful people succumb to the pressures of this game. Rookies come in and they're used to being the big man on campus and now they're bottom of the list, they got a whole new system to learn and limited time to do it. There are stories all throughout the history of this game where people got one chance and then were cast off and never given another chance. It is a high stress brutal situation involving high ego inflated coaches and front office politics. He should get a shot tomorrow and it may be the only one he gets so he better make the most of it.
August 26, 20223 yr Will Strong play a quarter or a series against the Dolphins? This would be the last chance the coaches to see him in game action. The first 2 QBs are set. Chances are Strong won't make the final roster. If he is any good, he may make it to PS. Then they have find a way to stash the 3rd QB somewhere.
August 26, 20223 yr If I’m the Eagles, I showcase Minshew again. Then give Sinnett one more chance to stick as the 3rd QB. Strong might get a series or two. Not expecting much if Strong plays. He’s not getting reps. We’ll know in a week who the Eagles keep on the practice squad. If Sinnett doesn’t perform, maybe we keep Strong. Can Strong light it up and win the job? Maybe.

They want anybody but Hurts to be the QB because they just don't like him for whatever reason(s) they choose. That's why all these "But Hurts" people have been building deities out of guys like Strong. They've been making claims that Hurts can't and won't improve and their only option at this point is to keep doubling down on their claims. He has shown a lot of progress in his passing so far this TC and... well... that's not a game, so it's a mirage --- but when Hurts makes a mistake in TC or practice, all of a sudden, "that's proof!!!"
August 27, 20223 yr Internet says the NFL teams carry 2.6 QB’s on their 53 man rosters. That means more than half of the teams in the league, around 18 teams, carry 3 QBs. Therefore, around 14 3rd string QBs and 32 4th stringers will be cut. I bet there will be someone in that group better than Sinnett and Strong.

August 27, 20223 yr I am waiting on Jimmy G to be traded to Seattle. Then Howie picks up Drew Lock or Geno Smith for a 6th round draft pick. Or Was Commanders cut Heinicke or Sam Howell. or Jets cut Flacco or some thing like that.

If the Eagles keep a 3rd QB it will be a dirt cheap developmentally QB that they hope can become the #2 QB once Minshew leaves next year. That's going to be Sinnett.

Those rookie contracts are dirt cheap, as is Jalen's currently. We were paying Chase Daniel $8M/year to be a backup and Foles slightly less until after the Super Bowl when we reworked his contract.

August 28, 20223 yr What do they see in Sinnett? If Strong isn't good enough to start in the preseason over Sinnet he must absolutely suck, Me thinks the quarterback factory has had a breakdown. Three preseason games with Sinnet was at least one or two too many.

That's going to be Sinnett. There is absolutely now reason to keep a 3rd QB. Sinnett showed pretty much zero. No improvement at all. Better to save a PS place for another player. No other team is going to sign him. The birds need to look elsewhere for a "developmental" QB. I don't put much stock in pre-season but Sinnett was brutal to watch.

Maybe the eagles minds see more than I do but from just someone watching the games I don't see what they see. Maybe he practices well but in games I did not see anything at all outside of a handful of plays. Every dog finds a bone now and then though. Overall, pretty brutal through the pre-season at QB.
