A career starting safety cut by a team in desperate need of safety help. That’s a confidence killer right there

Please, he was the ring leader of no effort, he deserved to be cut.

He must be really bad if he can beat out Sinnett for the 3rd string job. Sinnett is horrendous and clearly doesn’t belong in the NFL. Not even the practice squad.

Practice squad signings start Thursday Sept 1 at 4pm.

We'll see who the Eagles sign as 3rd QB.

Each team can sign up to 16 players to the Practice Squad.

They clearly didn't even think of him as that considering he never got to do team drills in practice or play in the games. Very strange to have kept him all preseason, never let him do anything, and not cut him until the final 53 cuts.

Eagles were the only team that interviewed him at the Senior Bowl, and Combine. The reports of him having bad interviews shouldn’t have been with Eagles considering they signed him.  He was only getting 3-4 reps per practice in TC, so maybe something went bad in OTA’s.

Sinnett regressed with the Eagles, he torched Cincy for 300 yards in the last preseason game of 2021, and he played well in other preseason games.  Obviously it doesn’t mean much, but at least he didn’t look like he just started playing football 3 weeks ago, like he did with the Eagles.  Like a completely different player for some reason.

After hearing what he said in his post game, it sounds like the coaching staff just stone walled him and never gave him a shot. Well for his sake I hope another team gives him a shot.

Not a good look from this coaching staff.

"This is a great organization to be a part of, this is a great football team with great coaches and a great owner,” he said. "It’s a top-run organization from the owner to the GM to the coaches. These guys know what they’re doing. This is a great roster and I’m very happy to have a chance to be on this team and be a part of it.”

"Eventually, I’m going to get a chance in the preseason or a real game, whatever it is,” Strong said Saturday night. "Eventually, I’m going to get a chance to go out there and perform. I just have to make sure I’m ready when my opportunity comes.”

It's a simple case of not being ready yet. That doesn't mean he won't eventually be ready to compete for a backup role and then expand on that, but as of right now, he just wasn't for whatever reason. Kurt Warner didn't impress teams early on and had to take a long, slow path to NFL opportunity. Being cut a day early tells me the Eagles, despite the reports (could be smokescreens) we're hearing, may be hoping to get him back on the PS. We'll see.

I disagree that this changes anybody's perception of the coaching staff. Strong was given the most guaranteed money possible and he wasn't far enough along to unseat Sinnett. Nobody will think ill of the Eagles for this.

I think it's moreso they hope another team picks him up so the Eagles aren't on the hook for his $300k.

It's agent speak boiler plate. If he wants a shot at a job in this league that's what he must say.

Eagles already paid the Guaranteed money.

I've seen several beats state that if he gets picked up on waivers then that team picks up that contract and is on the hook for it.

Yeah, I don't think the Eagles get out of that money, but I don't think there's any cap ramifications since he was at or near the league minimum overall and not in the team's top 51.

NFL.com has a page with roster cuts for each team. Strong is not on it yet. I'm not sure how 'official' that page is.

Line from BLG's recent roster predictions yesterday:

"Carson Strong played 16 total preseason snaps and attempted four passes. The Eagles wouldn’t mind if another teams claims him so they’re off the hook for his salary."

So you heard agent-speak and it convinced you he was saying something else?

Even when Howie finally does some decent things, he MUST throw in something bizarre that makes no sense. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Carson Strong. Howie just has to Howie.

His signing bonus was only 20k. What was guaranteed in that 300k was his salaries, which whoever picks him off waivers would have to pay. Philly has to pay it if no one grabs him

And no one will, and he will be signed to the Eagles practice squad

Are people okay now that their emotional support Carson has been dumped?

You should head over to the blog, the explanation of this is all there.  Go back about 4 hours.

Im so confused now. The media is saying we never gave him a chance, but i thought we did, and he just didnt do very well?

Who cares

So you have talked yourself into thinking this was a good thing. Denial is the first step of grief.

The Eagles QB position is a Fing drama fest.

No not really. The Eagles have been clear on their intentions. The drama is from fans coming up with who hate Hurts coming up with crazy conspiracy theories.

The Eagles signing of Carson Strong gave the Hurts huggers a bit of a scare.

"oh no. What if Strong is better?”

Hurts is his own worst enemy. He needs to improve or he will be replaced.

By Strong or whoever is next.

I find it hard to believe that Strong didn't have enough physical and/or mental talent to get a reasonable amount of snaps in the preseason.  Plenty of bad players play in preseason that have no chance at an NFL roster.  This is especially true of a guy that the head coach complimented early on, who they interviewed multiple times, and who they paid a major signing bonus to.  The Eagles aren't stupid. Seems like there is more to this story....

I’d love to be a fly on the wall during personnel meetings at Novacare.
