In Howie’s defense the hype machine was big on this guy. We all knew this was a weak draft for quarterbacks, but some people had this guy as a first rounder at some point. Howie was doing his due diligence here and trying to see if this kid had anything. He had to pay more because other teams wanted a look too. People are acting like his guaranteed money was major money. It isn’t. There are players on their dead cap counting far more. Howie tried something out. Didn't Howie basically say they will take a QB every year ? Ever since he said QB factory they have taken a QB or signed projects.

Not one person has said they want a QB that can’t run. Josh Allen is a great runner, as good as Hurts.  He also has prototypical QB skills.  I would take him as the Eagles QB.

So based how Strong was treated all offseason, and the fact he was allowed to play the final preseason game despite not really getting meaningful playing time and then they still cut him early before final cutdown day….

I have to imagine it was due to performance. Like he just didn’t grasp the offense so they couldnt play him. He had to be significantly inadequate for them to consider looking elsewhere to a QB someone else cut

Eagles have Reid on the PS and Book as QB3. Strong is long gone. 

The hype was ludicrous but it’s a shame he was that bad he couldn’t even make the practice squad.

No offense to Strong, but I like Book better in that role.  At least we know that he played well for a high quality school that played against other premium teams.

They did that to someone else a few years back. They gave them no chance to catch on and cut them early. Supposedly that person had attitude problems and was constantly argumentative with the staff. I remember being in the same place wondering what happened until finally it was talked about on a podcast that they were unteachable and wouldn't listen.

Well, Hurts sucks throwing the ball, so anyone who can is going to be considered a threat to replace him in our eyes because of wishful thinking and wanting the team to have a legit shot of winning.

I'm sure the story will come out eventually. I supported Strong but more because I DON'T care for my Quarterback to be my team's leading rusher. Arm talent and what's between the ears >>>>>>>>> fast legs for me. What's between the ears may have been Strong's problem, we'll find out.

Book has a noodle arm and can't throw outside the numbers. Small guy with a small arm. He isn't NFL level anything.

I was looking at the Athletic's mock draft they posted yesterday, and as I have said for a couple of weeks now, they have the Eagles pick at 17, and the Saints at 19.
