Capt F please check in when you can.  Been watching a Fort Myers TV station all day and it looks real bad there.

Watching a Cape Coral presser now.  It's pretty bad there.  No water, no electric-meaning the whole system will have to be re built. They are under curfew until further notice. Fire Chief said they had over 400 911 calls and they are still holding 250.

You ok, OP?

He is probably jammed up somewhere with a boat on top of him.

Duke Energy just called us with an automated message saying that they expect it to hit here pretty hard tomorrow and to expect extended outages.  They’ve never done that before.

Cause most of their crews were distached to FL.  Get prepared for an outage and hope for the best. PA crews will save your arse!  So glad I’m outta the dispatching business.  Some do it so well. Yet it does make sense don’t send all the resources out to one area -ah just in case there’s still a land falling hurricane in another state! The same one!  Stay safe. I’m Even gonna get rain.

Let us know how it goes.  You should be ok compared to FL but still   Hell of a storm

We have friends that have a place in Punta Gorda, so we are very familiar with some of these hard hit areas.  Just saw that our favorite restaurant on our favorite beach on Gasparilla Island got leveled

Friends lost their condo - wind tore the roof off and the entire thing got soaked.  Ceiling gone in places - carpet ruined - everything soaked.  Lanai got torn open as well.  Not sure if they're going to try to repair it or not - seems like it would need to be gutted down to the studs.

On my way, Waze says I should arrive at your house around 4:45pm. I’m sure my wife and kids will get through it ok.

Oldest is back on the ground in NC, thank God.  Despite the storm, he had to fly to Knoxville and Birmingham, AL this morning to pick up test kits and bring them back.  Needless to say, I was a bit concerned with the winds.

Cable/internet went out 20 minutes ago. I might actually have to do something with these people. It’s going to be a long night.

Good to hear Zuk!

My boss gave me a thatta gal for dispatching an electrician to a J C Penney’s in Fort Myers for a work order we received to turn off the main switch gear. I was shocked I was able to get thru to someone. Still haven’t heard from my usual crew in that area.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy….

I also want to see how they move 50 ton boats off the land.  Crane?  Barge?   Flat beds?  Is there such a place like a salvage or boat graveyard for all those boats?  It’s unreal.

Local news is saying all of Cape Coral is out of power. Hope you’re hanging in there @Captain F. Got my power back today. Seems like half of Bonita and most of Naples got it back today too so hopefully they are moving up to your area next.

Stand back, Florida rednecks have got this.

Hey everyone.  I live in the very Southwest corner of cape coral. We were in the Eastern and southern eyewall for 6 hours straight.  It sounded like a freight train overhead for that entire time.  Rode it out in our bathroom. I don't know how bad our house is.  The storm wound down around 10pm and we were in total darkness. House generator failed as it was under water. We were able to get out of the house and area early Thursday morning and got to a friend's in lakeland. We are safe.  We do not know when we can return home.  The water and electric grid in our area is destroyed.  I need to start making long term plans for my family. Definitely the most stressful event in my life.  I'm just now able to sit down and watch TV and seeing the videos and images are gut wrenching. Places I grew up going to, fort myers beach,  Sanibel, Captiva,  pine island, matlache, are all gone. Seeing the images after hearing it on the radio is just unreal.  I thought the radio people were hyping the damage.  Then seeing it with my own eyes... I'm a grown man.  I'm crying.  I really don't know what else to say on that.

For those saying we should have left....

2 days before the storm, the cone, and local media were saying it was going north of Tampa.  By the time the nhc cone was over us and the local news realized it was coming our way, it was too late. When I went to bed at midnight Tuesday night it was still looking to go north of us and at high cat 2 strength.  NO ONE in our area thought we would be waking up to a 155mph storm coming right at us.  Almost no one left.
