Why was this considered an "ugly" game? In my days...

I dont get it. If this was 15 yrs ago, a 20-17 score says to me it was a close, exciting game. What are you expecting? 35 points every game?

Seriously though, why do people say this was an "ugly" win or game? Its not like we had 3 turnover or couldnt move the ball. Sure, we got stopped a few times but hey, that happens in football.

Are we that spoiled?

Tons of missed tackles. Dropped passes. Penalties... etc. Against an inferior team.  The Eagles SHOULD have hung 40 on them in a blowout. Game should have never been close.

The team felt flat all week. The coaches got lucky yesterday but think it was more on them for not getting the team ready to play.

Possibly looking ahead to Dallas.

I think we should take it as a good sign at least that even a "trap” game was a win.

Mostly, I see what you mean.  People are spoiled by high scoring games, the league has adjusted the rules and handcuffed defenders to allow more scoring and less smash mouth old school football.  In the 90s for example we used to love a strong defensive game with low scoring, watching sacks, tackles, big hits, etc.

The reason some are calling this game ugly was the horrific tackling and the self-inflicted mistakes.  They had a bunch of injuries so considering that plus a kicker signed to the practice squad just in the last week who comes in and makes both including the game winning, that's a good win.

Wonder if Chiefs fans were freaking out the same way when they actually lost to that pathetic Colts team a couple weeks ago.

You guys watch Hurts' pc? It seemed like he got emotional when he was talking about not scoring a TD instead got the last FG. He said, I hate putting my team in a position that gives the other kicker a chance to tie or win the game.
Seriously thought he was holding back tears. But could also be the way he talks.
Love this kid.

Last week, came back from behind to win in horrible conditions. Arizona isn't as bad as their record states, plus we all know about how bad we have played in Arizona. So comeback win and win in a close game. Battle tested sorta. Sunday night will tell us all we need to know about this team!

FLY EAGLES FLY!!!

it happens. we got lucky for once. i’ll take it.

It has nothing to do with the final score and everything to do with what led up to the final score.

You guys are overthinking this.  They held Kyler Murray in check, you hold that dude under 20 pts you're good.  The Eagles OLine was in flux all game and the Cards still have some wreckers in the front 7 that smelled blood.  If not for that constant jumbling up front eagles win this 27-17 and that's dandy for a cross country road game against an average team.

Honestly, I think it's all about expectations.  If we'd expected a tough fight, we'd be happy.

Instead, we expected to roll though a 2-2 team.  We thought we'd win 31-10, but we only won 20-17.

"Bad wins” happen to good teams. That Giants game in 2017 when the Eagles won by a last minute kick by Elliot comes to mind. Sad that I go to social media and get bombarded by Dallas fans questioning the Eagles only to come here to receive the same type of responses. Perhaps there’s just a bunch of sad Dallas fans pretending to be Eagles fans around here too.

We were 14 points up and there was a real opportunity to put the game to bed early. Instead we let them back in and it was a very close game that came down to two FG attempts. That's against a team that really is not very good.

But it was a road win going across country and we had a lot of injuries along the OL. So whilst it is fair to reflect and be critical we should also take the positives.

When a team can't do a simple, fundamental thing- like tackle, it's an ugly game.

 I got a kick out of this.

This is the participation trophy era we live in these days.  Too many people unable to cope with difficult situations (like losing or almost losing).  I tell my wife all the time, the world has become so "pussified" in recent years.

Now get off my lawn!

It was a good win.  I did expect the Eagle to win by more than they did.  Fact is, we could have lost that game.  Bottom line: 5-0.

Felt that way from their body language during press conferences etc. The team felt flat and our fanbase was also flat. No energy and everyone assuming we were going to run all over Arizona.

Then they come out and put up an uninspiring display on the football field.

If I were to call it ugly it's only because we led 17-3 and then opened the door and invited them in. Tie score and barely eked out with a win. When we have a 14 point lead, I expect us to win by at least that much. The only time coming from behind to tie up is acceptable is when we're the ones coming from behind. :-)

Sundays game wasn't an "ugly" win...the win against the Browns in 2012 now that was ugly...Sundays win was just uninspiring.

This is what I think.  That they were fine with an ugly win and not show anymore of the playbook to dallas    and they stayed healthy for this Sunday night.

Hurts seemed upset about how they played and that's a good thing.   They should be fired up Sunday night.

Imagine if the Phils manage to close out the Braves in Philly this weekend…. Vibes are going to be through the roof for that Sunday night Dallas game.

Wonder how much longer Mailata will be out.  Have to think they would like to have him back ASAP but also are willing to give him one more week off since our bye follows hoping the extra time off gets him much closer to 100% and not risk aggravating the injury putting the 2nd half of the season in jeopardy.
