Steelers up next

Nice big win against Dallas on SNF.  Eagles have a well deserved bye.  Next up are the Steelers at the Linc.  Interesting fact - Pittsburgh has not won a game in Philadelphia since 1965.  Eagles have won 9 straight against the Steelers in Philly and lead the all time series 48-29-3

Home team always seems to win. Iirc every match-up since the 04 season when we lost after 7-0 start

should be a fairly easy win. both of their qbs are mediocre at best and the D is nothing without watt

Good to get the bye while unbeaten, although it may have been better to keep rolling. Steelers had a nice win yesterday, and made the poster boy lose his crap. The team mustn't look past them

Until we find a way to start playing a full 60 minutes ... to show up in the 2nd half ... no games will be "easy wins".

Hopefully they focus on that during the extra time off the bye week brings.

they won't need the second half with pittsburgh. the only elite player on that team right now is Minkah. they have nothing on offense. unless watt is coming back that game it'll be similar to when buffalo trashed them

Trap game.

Somebody had to say it.  :P

Seriously though, they need to show up focused and not buying into any hype.  The Steelers just beat the Bucs, we'll see what happens with the Dolphins but the Eagles can't get comfortable thinking it's a home game, fresh off the bye.  I like the way the players are talking though, staying focused.

With how Pittsburgh has been playing it should be easy but nothing ever is. They really need to figure out the second half because it’s not going to work come playoff time if they make it.

When does Watt come back? Or is he out for the season?

The eagles offense is annoyingly inconsistent.......and much of it has to do with the play calling.  But they seem to manage to turn it on when the pressure is on late in the game.

The eagles are a very talented team, with young coordinators who seem to be a factor in the inconsistency.  As the year grinds on, I hope they can get this offense to be a threat at any point in the game, take advantage of turnovers and put, on average, another TD on the board per game.

Heading into the bye, and looking ahead to pittsburgh, this is what I'd like to see:

1) Get everybody as healthy as can be......Johnson, Dillard, Dickerson, CJGJ and anybody else who's nicked up.

2) Become more consistent as an offense and use more misdirection, more motion, and try to spread the ball around more.....get Pascal and Watkins involved, throw deep shots more often. Steichen has to get better with situational play calling......some of his calls are simply boneheaded.

3) Don't take the pressure off defensively......blitz more....I'd like to see Nakobe Dean get more involved.

4) Focus on special teams during the bye......can't let teams get into the game by special teams.

Regardless of the schedule, it's going to be tough going when you're undefeated.......teams love to knock off undefeated teams, especially when the eagles are on the road.  I think Sirianni keeps them in the right mindset and they focus on the game at hand.

No such thing in the NFL. They just beat Tampa.

Add learn how to handle the blitz and defend off tackle runs to the list.

Never ever think that in the NFL.  Tampa just got their butts whipped in Pittsburgh.  Eagles should be favored, but don't ever think it'll be easy

Well, it's not the real test, because it is not next week.

The bye week is the rest test.

We should handle business and we should be able to win but you just never know. The Steelers showed up against Tampa and we know this is a week to week league.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Offense

22nd in Passing Yards in the NFL - (1311 as of week 6 10/17)

25th in Rushing Yards in the NFL  - (520 as of week 6 10/17)

Rush 1st 22% - (Eagles are 26%)

Steelers are 70% on 4th down conversions.

Defense

30th against the Pass - (allowed 1667 yards at end of week 6)

19th against the Run - (allowed 721 yards at end of week 6)

Steelers forced 4 fumbles and recovered 2 (50%-  tied for 29th in NFL for forced fumbles)

Steelers have 9 INT total as a team (3rd in NFL - eagles are 2nd with 9 both have 1 pick 6)

Steelers are last in Net Points in the NFL with negative 49 points!
Eagles are 2nd with 56 points (Bills 1st with 95- Lions game....)

It would appear that the Eagles will throw more in this game than in any previous game as a strategy to win, and to learn from passing mistakes as most likely the Eagles would be able to still win even coming back from behind.

From here on out every game is a trap game.

When does Watt come back? Or is he out for the season?

He should have been back in time for the Eagles game based on the chest injury but since he was already on IR and tweaked his knee in preseason he had that scoped as well so now he is due back after their bye in week 9.

I thought the same thing about the bye week, but you know teams have a tendency to play flat after a huge win against a divisional opponent. The way Sirianni was acting after the game you could tell this Dallas team was at least in his head. A week away from that game could help them be refocused and ready to roll.

Two weeks of positive press, but I still feel like this game could have been more dangerous had it happened a week after Dalla. They have a week to shake off the Dallas buzz, and can get back to focusing on one game at a time.
