Polls were crowded for a municipal election. Though we do have crazy Moms for Liberty on the ballot for school board.

Our school board is being infiltrated with MAGA nuts. Looks like it’s a statewide issue.

Voting to keep the PA Supreme court out of Maga's hands.

No moms for liberty in our district yet, but they’re in surrounding districts. We do have a dinosaur former minister that describes himself as a "traditionalist” who believes that "Education should emphasize God, Country, and Family”.

While waiting to go into the polls I overheard a voter talking to one of the party volunteers outside who was explaining which candidates had cross-filed and was listed on their party’s ticket, but was really from the other party and not who they wanted to voted for. This, of course, was very upsetting to the voter who quickly said it was a terrible practice that shouldn’t be allowed. After agreeing with him profusely and explaining how the other party was just playing by the dirty rules in place, the volunteer then pointed the two candidates from their party that had cross-filed. That, of course, was met with great appreciation and support…

I really wanted to ask why they felt school board elections should be tied to political party at all but decided it was not likely to be a productive conversation.

They used to cross file here, but this time it was a dem vs. MAGA for school board. School board has been a partisan position ever since I can remember, so they shouldn't be allowed to cross file.

i think all the candidates for school board here are listed on the ballots as both dems & repugs. i'll confirm when i vote after work...voting against every repug on the ballot.

Pretty close to my area. We already have a bunch of MAGA loons on the school board. Hopefully we don't get any more.

early returns for my district look promising, but I'm not holding my breath.

these M4L idiots need to go.

the republicans in this area were sending disgusting mailers with no return addresses claiming all kinds of nonsense. a PAC was set up by a political consultant who works in Alexandria Virginia to support the local Republicans - the guy has never lived here. there's literally a beltway insider funding an infiltration of the nonsense from Washington into our school board.

it's absolutely ridiculous.

I hope this is accurate. These right-wing school board members were absolutely nuts.

Looks like the GOP is doing a lot of losing.

Maybe sucking cheetoh isn't as good as they think?

So Democrats swept 5 CBSD school board seats after Republicans broad negative national attention to the district with their radical MAGA/M4L BS.

Neighboring Pennridge did the same - Dems sweeping 5 seats. Their board was even crazier, adopting some crazy "patriot education" type curriculum that white-washed history.

Council Rock is more of a mix - 6 seats were up for grabs, 4 went to Dems and 2 to Republicans. But I believe the current board president was booted, and the final makeup of the school board will be 5-4 Democrat.

The message here is clear: normal parents don't want the right-wing agenda of turning back the clock in their districts. We don't want 1950s curriculum that shoves American exceptionalism down the throats of our students. We want students that can think critically, understand that as great as America is and has been that it has made mistakes, but that it continues to learn and grow from them.

This is the right way.

My daughter turned down a job offer at Pennridge SD a few months ago.  She was not for their curriculum.  Had a bad vibe during the interview process and she deep dived into their board meetings.  She's not happy where she is, but I think she made the right choice.

There was a bomb threat at Radnor HS polling place in Delaware County yesterday. They moved the polling location and kept the vote open till 9:00 while police investigated.

I hope they catch the criminal.

Dan McCaffrey won. Another huge L for MAGA republicans.

Sadly the Moms for Liberty See You Next Tuesday candidate won in our district.

Glad I send my kids to private school.

I would tend to think private schools are more M4L/MAGA than public, even if it's quieter.

But a Dem majority should help.

We have a lot of MAGA parents. I mean a lot. But it doesn't come through in the curriculum. My son is currently learning about how man made climate change affects our ecosystems. Both of my children learned that slavery is bad. They learned that the south seceded and started the civil war because they thought owning other human beings was their right (something they wouldn't teach my daughter when we lived in NC).

ok, somebody post the short list, a.k.a. the gop winners.

The majority of Americans rejected Maga and the radical right.

Moms for Liberty Falls Flat on Its Face in School Board Races

Iowa chapters of the far-right group Moms for Liberty endorsed 13 candidates in school board races across the state. Only one was elected.

The Tuesday loss is a stinging rebuke of Moms for Liberty, a "parental rights” organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center designated as an extremist group. What happened in Iowa mimics similar defeats suffered by the group and by Republicans in general throughout the United States.

In Iowa, the only Moms for Liberty candidate who won was Nathan Gibson. He was elected school director for the Interstate 35 district, a rural district with fewer than 1,000 students.

Moms for Liberty was founded in 2021 to push back against Covid-19 restrictions in schools. It has since expanded to opposing classes on diversity, curbing the rights of LGBTQ students, and banning books.

But on Tuesday, voters across the country pushed back on the Moms for Liberty agenda. The organization endorsed dozens of candidates in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and North Carolina, in addition to Iowa. Almost all of those candidates lost, with some failing to get more than single-digit support.

Voters issued similar rebukes to the Republican Party in general. Ohioans voted overwhelmingly Tuesday night to enshrine abortion protections in the state Constitution, despite the state GOP making multiple desperate attempts to prevent such an outcome. In Virginia, Democrats took control of both the state House and Senate, in a stunning upset.

The GOP swept our local school board but I think only two of them are MAGA morons.

With due respect, you don't live here. You haven't received the mailers, nor witnessed the manner in which these M4L d-bags have interacted at the school board and in the public.

I'm enjoying every minute of this.

I don't doubt that I'll have issues with some of what the Democrats on the school board will advocate for. But I also feel confident that where we differ will be within a range of normal political disagreement, and that the debates will have a more civil tone.

You can act all cynical like that doesn't matter, and maybe at the federal level where politicians are warm bodies 100s or 1000s of miles away maybe that's true, but for the health of a community where we're literally all neighbors shopping at the same grocery stores and eating at the same restaurants it absolutely does.
