Ugh, sorry Glimmer. I had to put my German Shepard down in early March, so I know the feeling.

Yeah, it’s been since last August, but it’s one of the worst feelings in the world.

Luckily, I am no longer dog-less. My little girl Frankie has filled some of the void.

This is Wes. He likes to hunt with me.

Yes, that's an Eagles hat he stole from me.

Stole my Eagles hoodie, too. That's a good boy...

Awesome. The wife and I are getting our new puppy next Saturday.

We got her as a rescue from a kill shelter when she was an"older" puppy. She spent the first 6 months being terrified of doors. If the only knock on her is she thinks it a game to run off if she's off the leash, I'm ok with that. Other than that, she's a great dog

We did the same with a 1 year old lab/German Sheppard. Previous owners lived in an apartment and their landlord said they couldn't have a dog so they threw him outside and called animal control. Their kids were crying, dog was crying. Caused major separation anxiety issues with the dog. At first it was a disaster. We couldn't leave him home without him freaking out and tearing Shiite up. Crate didn't work either. Finally, I told my wife to just put him in the back yard when she left the house.

Wife: ....but he'll escape and run away.

Me: His loss.

He never ran away. He has become a great dog and has always been great with kids. Scary as F guard dog too. Still has some separation anxiety and acts like I just returned from two tours in Iraq every time I come home, even if I only left for 5 minutes.

Look at his front paw placement.  Steering like a pro. Like a boss.

i had a friend that had a dog that could skate.  Not that good though.  He also thought the skateboard was his girlfriend and humped it constantly.

How do dog owners in here feel about feeding table scraps?  I am pretty hardcore against it for a few reasons.  One, it turns your dog into a begger - when I'm eating I don't need my dog staring at me, whining and drooling and expecting to be fed.  Two, it's unhealthy for the dog.  Occasionally, after we're done eating meat we will give our dog some residual fat or gristle, but that's it.  I see people feeding their dogs potato chips, etc. and then they wonder why it's fat and has health problems.  I thought I had a third reason, but now I forget

Never feed the dog from the table or your plate.

I might 'accidentally' drop a bite on the kitchen floor. I will put the plate down on the floor for doggie prewash. I'll chop up leftover steak (or stuff I trimmed off that I don;t want) and put that into their food

Feeding them from your plate makes it more of a target than it already is.

Never feed him from the table. I'll let him lick the plate that I put down on the kitchen floor. If he starts coming over interested in my food I tell him "no begging" and he goes and lays down. Even if we leave food on the coffee table he won't touch it unless given the "go ahead".

don't feed your dogs people-food, you weirdos :nonono:

The shepherd is sick of shelter in place.

You can’t take a cat boar hunting.  Exhausted shepherd from a good hunt passed out on the trailer.
