Aww man sorry to hear that. I never fully recovered from the 2 dogs I've had to out down or give up in my lifetime. Both were over 10 years ago but still I think about both of them.

Yeah, it was definitely time, but it’s still rough.

This is one of my 3, Jack. He's 13 now and has outlasted 2 of my other greys. He's at the vet right now waiting for them in the car to come get him so he can get checked out and get his nails done. He won't let us do them.

His back is getting really weak in his old age now. He has a hard time walking sometimes, his back legs go sideways, his feet slip out on the deck constantly. Once in a while he falls down going up the stairs. He still loves to play around, and is a constant barking pain in the arse when you're doing web meetings because he likes to be a pain sometimes. We're living on borrowed time that's getting really short now. He loves to lay down with me wherever I am, he always has. I had to take the frame out of my bed this week so it wouldn't be so high for him to come up and cuddle.

I love him, he's my dude.

He's a great looking pup!  We have an 11 year old terrier mutt that until recently could jump up on our bed, but his old legs can't do it anymore.  We bought one of these for him, and he's gotten used to it.

I grew up with greys, bone issues hit those legs pretty hard late in life. Jack sounds like a pretty cool guy 🙂

I feel your pain. It sucks when you know the time to say goodbye is close.

I was going to make him a ramp but I just figured it would make life a lot simpler for him if it was lower. Once in a while I think his back is hurting and he wants to come up but he doesn't want to jump so he'll just bark at me. After about 5 minutes I know it's time to pick him up and put him on the bed. It's not easy for either of us he's a big boy. He was 90 pounds in his day. He's down a bit from that now but he's all bones. The first few times he would yelp a little bit. It's stressful for both of us. I used to pick him up and throw him in my truck when he'd be naughty and run down the street. That was a long time ago though.

His sister had a stroke and lost her left side. I had to pick her up at 85 pounds and truck her up and down the stairs, in and out of the house for 2 weeks waiting for meds to help her before we finally gave up. I still have PTSD from that and am reminded of her every time I pick him up.

Cats have a kitty litter while dogs do their thing outside.
