Still haven't tried this yet. Heard different reviews for it. I think most people expect it to be very sweet and chocolatey, yet for people familiar with chocolate Porters they say it has that dry cacao flavour you get on most craft Porters. We shall see.

The first batch, just on draft, was excellent. It tasted exactly like a Hershey's chocolate bar. This second batch is not quite as distinct.
November 6, 20204 yr Excellent news for craft beer drinkers who go to Cape Cod. Tree House Brewing Company will be opening a taproom in Sandwich, on Cape Cod Bay. They say that it will be within walking distance of Town Neck Beach (which is just east of the northern entrance to the canal) and the boardwalk. My semi-educated guess is that it would go in the Drunken Seal location, but I know the Outer Cape more than this area. https://www.masslive.com/news/2020/11/tree-house-to-open-waterfront-taproom-on-cape-cod.html
November 6, 20204 yr Author That will print money in other news the KBS mac fudge is a disappointment. Maybe it will be better with age but its meh at best right now but good news i got my 2020 dark lord bottles
November 8, 20204 yr So Friday I get a delivery from this one craft distributor based out of NYC. The one driver usually brings me a couple cans of beer since he's in the NYC area and gets hooked up with some good breweries up there. He brought me a couple cans of Icarus IPAs plus another 3 cans of other beers. Then later that day I got a visit from the brewery rep from Axe & Arrow in Glassboro, which I posted about a couple weeks ago. Dude dropped off EIGHT different beers for me (and I love the eco-friendly carrier package), which included a couple fruited Sours, a new Hazelnut Porter, a hoppy Pale Ale and 4 German style beers. I drank 4 of them that night plus one of the beers from the delivery driver (and still got up in time to open the store the next morning, #winning). Die Germahnz were true to their style which included a Weizenbock (loads of banana and dark cherry), a Dunkel Lager (had that stone ground dark cracker and pretzel flavour) and a Hefeweizen (loads of bubblegum, banana and clove). While they weren't beers that would make you go 'wow', they were really good representations of their styles. Also got in a beer from local brewery Eight & Sand in Woodbury, NJ, a Red Lager with grapefruit called You'll Shoot Your Eye Out. Love the package as it even has the leg lamp. Fra-gil-ley. It must be Italian. Haven't had it yet, but will grab a 4pk for myself and my sister since we love that movie growing up (our dad was similar to the dad in that story, especially with the cursing) Bolero Snort is coming out with an IPA called This Is They Whey after the show The Mandalorian. Check out the images on the can. Priceless.
November 9, 20204 yr I don't drink Flying Dog much anymore but I really like this year's Kujo. It's much more coffee-forward than previous years. The only downside is they lowered the ABV from 9% to 6% for some reason.

Their Brunch Pack from earlier this year was a mixed bag, but I appreciated the effort. They had a Heat Pack a few years ago that was interesting. Their Brewhouse Rarities are usually pretty good. I stay away from their flagship beers, though (but mainly because i don't buy flagship beers too often from a particular brewery). For the record, the Brunch Pack had a bloody mary beer that was pretty awful, a cinnamon toast beer that was alright, a cold brew coffee beer that was decent, and a mimosa beer that was decent.
November 10, 20204 yr Yeah the Brewhouse Rarities series has some good beers. I haven't seen any of them in a long time here though. I don't think we get their 12 packs here. Some of them have some beers that look interesting. A bloody mary beer is not among them though. That sounds gross as hell.

I got started on Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter, though, and it still holds up. Really a great beer. I haven't had it in a long time, so I can't really recall how dry it is. Probably a bit since it's English, but I don't remember it being overly so.
November 13, 20204 yr Author European flavor profiles do tend to be more subtle. tempted to try the Great Lakes one thats highly regarded but inkinda gave up on that style drinking a Maplewood Son of Juice right now

November 13, 20204 yr It's about that time. What style of beer do you guys would pair best with a cheesesteak? I'm normally a wiz wit guy but might opt for provolone this time around. I'm not big on IPAs. I think they work better with spicier fare anyway, but you definitely need something bold to match the fat content of a cheesesteak.

Maybe victory prima pils

The Philly pale ale was fine here, but maybe a tad bit more hoppy than necessary. It was on hand, though. I'll definitely grab a pilsner for the next time.
