Deya - Saturated in Amarillo.

You do have some good craft breweries in the UK.  Deya would be one of them as their beers rate/review well.  When I was in London in 2012 just after the Olympics ended I went to some craft beer bars and there wasn't any UK craft beers like this then.  Any craft beer they had was usually from the US or they had the more typical UK style Ales and a fair amount of Belgians.

A proper british ale can be great. Their ESBs are top notch.

You've tried deya then? 😁 I live pretty close to their brewery. About 15/20 minutes drive away so I am very very lucky. They have such a choice and variety all year round.

Yeah the UK really has come along in the last few years with their craft beers. Verdant and LHG are another 2 good breweries. LHG isn't too far away from me either. In fact it's really close to my works office.

I have yet to try any craft UK beers. Guess I got to London a tad too early.  I did go to some craft beer bars and the one that had the most variety was this little bar called The Rake down by the London Bridge area.  That was a great day.  It was a Friday and it was sunny and close to 80 degrees out.  It was on a pedestrian street that had numerous eateries and bars, even a winery/brewery that I can't recall the name of.  I walked around and found this great outdoor market and walked up and down the Thames, saw Shakespeare's Globe Theater and had lunch and this sushi place.  Basically The Rake, while it did have a handful of tables inside, most of the patrons ordered beer at the bar then went outside in this 'parking lot' that surrounded the place.  Around 5pm the street was packed with patrons flowing out of pubs with pints in their hands.  There was this one little store that had UK wines to sample, so naturally I did.

There was another place that I can't remember exactly what part of London I was, but I have it marked on a map.  This craft beer bar had about two dozen casks beers on tap and a good amount of bottle selections as well.  Upon seeing some of the US craft beers they had I asked the one bartender how they get this stuff because I couldn't even get it at the store I managed in NJ.  We started talking and there was a pub regular sitting near us.  The bartender got done his shift and another bartender who worked there showed up.  The regular was named Paul, he was from Ireland and lived across the street from the bar.  The one bartender was named Ash and I can't remember the name of the other bartender, but the 4 of us ended up buying each other rounds (mostly of Belgian beers, especially Sours and Flanders Reds) and I was F'ing hammered by the time I left there (which I thanked them for their company and slammed a 20 pound note on the bar and told them to get another round on me) and not sure how I made it to Kings Cross and back to my hotel and Earl's Court or how I was able to find Gourmet Burger Kitchen and place an order, but I did.

Anybody ever have this in the US?

I searched on Untappd, and it's nowhere within 100 miles of Wilmington, DE.

It doesn't get good ratings, for what it's worth.  But I have wanted to try beers that didn't get good ratings, either.

I'm hoping this is a joke...

😁

Toty is one of those guys that thinks that acting super weird and talking about obscure crap makes him sound clever - him and wholesale melvin should start a club.  No, a thread, where they spout out their useless nonsense to each other all day to impress each other.

What? No good?

I just want to try it

Remember, I'm the guy who gets randy over Yorkshire accents.

I can picture myself right now, kicking back getting all Adrian Quist with a couple tall cans while some Huddersfield chav ASMR's sweet, unintelligible nothings into my ear.

A man can dream, can't he?

John Smiths is a terrible beer. Well in my opinion and I'm not particularly fussy when it comes to beer.

But hey you've got to try it right?

the only reason I even know about that beer is because Ford Prefect had a wheelbarrow of it in the movie version of Hitchhiker's Guide

I guess it looked refreshing 😀

From memory it's quite creamy so not sure I'd say refreshing. But it's been a while... 😁

After reading this I looked through my post history and there does seem to be a pattern. I appreciate you taking the time to point it out. Sometimes your real friends are the ones that point out your flaws.

I did start a couple of threads, but they didn't go well. I think, like you, some of the more perceptive people caught on to the fact that I'm nowhere near as clever as I think I am. On the internet it's too easy I guess to get caught up in pretending you're something you're not. I really think it started in my childhood when my brothers and sisters were always getting good grades and all kinds of academic awards while I struggled to pass. They ended up all getting full scholarships and I was a tech school dropout.

The internet gives me the power to "fake it". Take my post above, for example... Cockney slang? Really? I've never even left my home town. And what's a "chav"? I knew people would have to Google it, giving me an illusion of being more worldly and well-read than I actually am. But I didn't count on people figuring out that I had to Google it in the first place.

I'll do some soul searching, but in the meantime feel free to call me out on any more shenanigans (I promise, I didn't have to look that one up 😀).

Thanks again for your evaluation - your opinion of my posting style is VERY important to me.

And enjoy the beer thread!

I’m glad you took my post exactly the way it was intended - nonsense from a stranger on an internet message board.  Cheers!

Grabbed some TG Hopsmack. Very nice

Russian store has EB. Smooth Polish Pilsner that tastes real nice in the early - mid fall. Got a 4 pack in the fridge so tomorrow starts with them. Any recommendations on a Pilsner? Or lager?

Think we had that before.  They are coming out with a couple new ones, at least to NJ,:  Dolphin Sparkles and Twisted Galaxy.  I ordered 1cs of each and probably going to make variety 4pks out of them.

Yup.  Haven't seen that one (only in kegs, probably leftovers from earlier) since end of last year or beginning of this year.

And no barrel aged beers from Central Waters, either.  Usually this time of year is when their Stouts, Porters and Barleywines come out.

Who else is bcbs hunting on fri?

I got 2cs of the 2020 vintage and 1cs each of the variants.  I still have a few of each left over from last year.

Hasn't been overwhelming at the store today.  Projection is for our customer count to be down and sales to be up.  So seems some people aren't doing anything for the holiday, but those who are have been buying large quantities.

I still have a couple of the Vertical packs of BCBS which has 1 bottle each of '17, '18 and '19 vintages.  Tomorrow I have to put out the '20 and the 3 variants.  Wondering how that will go.  Today seemed slow.  Not sure as many people will be out hunting for BCBS as previous years.

Covid probably has people not wanting to wait in line for beer.  I know I'm not dealing with that today.
