January 28, 20214 yr One of my favorite things to do is try all the brewpub-only/taproom-only beers when I go to a brewery. I can have the canned stuff just about any time, after all. Does anyone else love the one-offs and experimental beers?

My rep only had 8 to give out and our other 'bigger and busier' store didn't get it. Score for me! I stashed it in the craft coldbox and gave out bottles to my really good craft customers, all of whom were very happy. I did keep 2 bottles for myself and going to try 1 tonight while it's snowing or snowing/sleeting/raining, whatever. And the case I got was very fresh with the stamps on the bottles saying bottled on 1-6-21. Last night I brought home a bottle of Fifty Fifty Eclipse German Chocolate Cake Stout. It was good, not great. Got the chocolate and enough of the Bourbon barrel, but didn't get any of the coconut and only a faint bit of vanilla.

February 6, 20214 yr I'm into beers from New Mexico recently. I've only been there twice, but have gotten a decent feel for the lay of the land there. I also trade with someone I met out there. There are some breweries that fly way under the radar because, well, it's New Mexico. Rowley Farmhouse Ales in Santa Fe has won multiple medals at the GABF. It's easy for them to get to the GABF in Denver, but their saisons hold up against I've had anywhere in the US, such as Tired Hands. Their state-wide breweries, Marble and La Cumbre, put out good flagship beers and nice one-offs. I had a barrel-aged Russian imperial stout from La Cumbre, La ****, that was smooth and easy-drinking. Albuquerque also has some smaller breweries that have won awards over the past 5 years. Marble and La Cumbre have won awards but have grown from the brewpubs they used to be. But Canteen Brew House and Quarter Celtic Brewpub are little operations that put out some good beers, among some others. Albuquerque is a low-key nice beer city.

February 17, 20214 yr What are the best and worst variety packs out there? What are your favorite pack-exclusive beers? I hate it when a brewery puts out a variety pack but doesn't include anything available (in cans or bottles) only in the variety pack.
