Hurts deserves the MVP over Mahomes this year. I was wrong about Hurts and so were many of us. And I’m glad I was.

I disagree.  Single season passing yardage record will sway some voters, on top of the fact that Mahomes lost his top weapon and is about to post his second best statistical season, while Hurts was given a top 5 WR.

Also, looking at the AP voters, there are a lot of older folks, and with the voting now changed to ranking a top 5 instead of a vote for 1 player, Mahomes is going to get votes, lots of them.

Jalen Hurts will get offensive player of the year, Mahomes will get MVP, especially if they are the #1 seed in a much tougher AFC.  Chiefs should win out and be 14-3, Bills still have the Dolphins and a trip to Cincinnati.

You make good points but when you include rushing stats I think they’ll be close in yards and TDs. Throw in Hurts being on the team with the better record and 8 fewer ints, I think it’s Hurts’ award to lose.

Yes, I’m taking Mahomes over Hurts as a franchise QB but Hurts has deserved the MVP if the season ended today.

All I will say now, is this is his shot to win a title.  This is the best team that will be around him.

I wonder how true this is. We could be adding a top 5 pick to the defense and will essentially be bringing back the same offense.

Plus, players get better as they develop a relationship. AJ Brown is having his best season with Hurts, but has he reached his ceiling? Has Smith and Goedert?

To me, this offense has still left a lot of meat on the bone. I think it will continue to get better, and we have a lot of draft picks to reload on the defense.

Anyway, another prediction to file away for further reflection down the road.

I think the defense takes a step back next year, Kelce most likely retires, and maybe Lane soon thereafter.

Jurgens seems ok, but time will tell. The defense could be worse, but i think our backups - Dean, Blankenship, Williams, Davis, etc. - would be starters for a lot of teams. And will do fine when their roles expand.

Obviously a lot depends on Howie, but my trust level in him has radically changed this year.

I think taking everything into account from the roster to the schedule, this year is likely the easiest to reach and potentially win the SB.

I also think it will be interesting to see who in 2 to 3 years steps up as locker room leaders outside of QB, since by that point the old regime will all be gone, Slay might be gone, and there have been some high end draft misses that will affect natural homegrown replacements. There’s some potential options like maybe Dean, maybe Epps, Sweat? But it appears as of now to be a downgrade of the Kelce, Graham, Cox, Johnson, Ertz etc mold.

Why does it matter to you?   Are you Hurts or a family member?  Is he supposed to admit he was wrong to you?  Is your personal self worth tied the opinions a stranger has about a football player who doesn’t know you exist?  I feel sorry for you.  You need a hug.  Come on down to NC, I’ll make you a hot cocoa too.

Is that really the best line you’ve got?

Goedert as a leader? Tho he’ll be the elder statesman of the group

Dean and Davis.  Maybe Mailata and Dickerson on the offensive side.  Ertz was an EMO bish, this team doesn’t miss whatever leadership he brought.

Yea, hard to say exactly who was a leader and not. I threw Ertz in there because of the whole "Burn the Ships” speech he did in 2018 or 2019. He was also a high draft pick that became part of the nucleus for a good chunk of years.

Yea he could be. Hopefully whoever they pick with the Saints pick becomes one too. I just think this is a very well mixed team with old and new and it works. Going younger is obviously leaning to the new. Really going to be up to Howie to maintain everything which I think is fair to say has so far been his weak spot, overall.

Dickerson, DeVonta, Dean, Davis. Super secret club name? Deez Nutz.

Jurgens needs to become one. He's gotta be the leader of that line like Kelce is.

I know those are massive shoes to fill, but he's gotta try.

This is a homers pipe dream right here. Offensively we arent sure if Seumalo or Sanders will be back, and Kelce is probably gone next year. We have been extremely fortunate with overall good health especially on the Oline and WR positions. On defense theres a good chance you'll have 4-5 new starters, most could be 1st year starters or rookies. With a new DC most likely its going to be tough for them to replicate the success and health they have had this season. Everything is clicking right now and Jalen is taking advantage of it. Not to mention the schedule has been about as easy as its going to get. This is absolutely Jalen's best chance to get to the Superbowl and win it.
