Nah.  SS agent.  Not that Oswald didn't try.  He shot JFK, but the actual kill shot was an accident.

The Secret Service could use that day as a textbook on what not to do to protect the president. The amount of bungling and incompetence on display that day is unprecedented and has never been seen since. They were in on it.

The idea that the CIA pulled off the assassination of a US President and managed to keep it under wraps for almost 60 years...no.

The government has kept all kinds of things quiet. From aliens to rigged elections (no I'm not talking about ours. Lebanon for example).

The great society was fringe left conspiracy theory?

Both news to me, try to read and comprehend what i'm saying next time.

Far left crazies in the 90s/2000s when 9/11 happened were far lefties, now those same people are far rights. (for the most part)

  My post was sarcasm, you real life retarded person.

Your post stated that the Democrats have recently become pro government intervention.  But Democrats are the party of the New Deal/Great Society.  They've always believed that the government has an outsized role to play in the lives the American people.

Not yet and I don't necessarily see it coming on the horizon but things change and you can't think it can't happen under the right circumstances. There are circumstances that could lead it that way.

In theory, if republicans were somehow able to get their crap together and become a center right party again and started winning back moderates and independents in significant numbers, the influence of the far left would grow to some degree.  RFK Jr. has given some outrageous speeches centered on antivax conspiracies and has been growing his political clout and raising a lot of money with both the far left and right based around those beliefs and theories.  If you have a scenario where moderates migrate or return in large numbers to the Republican party and someone like Kennedy, whose name alone gives him inherent political clout, continues to grow his own populist movement starting with the antivax movement, you have a recipe for the lefts version of a MAGA movement.

I'm not saying it's probable or likely but don't pretend the left is immune to non-sense like this if the wrong scenario were to come to fruition.

Anything is possible. Sure.

We are living, right now, in real time, in a world where the right wing conspiracy theorists are in charge of the Republican Party. We’re not talking about it being a "possibility” IF an imaginable scenario were to come to fruition. Election fraud, pedophile pizza parlors, democrats are baby killers eating fetuses, Hunter Biden’s laptop, over ruling the constitution for the benefit to the country are REAL campaign talking points on the right.

Are the crazies getting shut up yet? Republicans overtook the House with this message, so I don’t think they are giving up on it yet…

Aliens? So, would that be a world-wide government coverup? Or did the space aliens only visit Roswell?

The inner workings of Aliens and who they choose to contact are vast and mysterious. We do know that our military has encountered UFOs for decades and has kept it under wraps until recently. Just pointing out that they can keep a secret when they need to.

and again, the new deal was part of the main left in the 30s', which is a far cry from the fringe left in 2000.

I stand by what I said. The "fringe left" in 2000, has now become the fringe right of today.

And now, the left-left, fringe left, (like yourself) have become the gubberment's best friend with blind belief.

Yeah, I'm really fringe left, dude.  Voted for Biden in Dem primary.  Just voted for GA's Republican Secretary of State.

Again, Democrats have always believed that the federal government had a large role to play.  You're confusing cultural shifts with ideological shifts. I don't disagree that conspiracy theorists have largely gravitated from the left to the right.  The right has actively courted them because they see how easy to manipulate they are.  But none of that has much to do with the ideological positions of the left.  They've largely stayed in tact.  The right, however, has shifted massively from a traditional conservative movement to a nationalist/protectionist one, which also plays well to the conspiracy contingent since it's a rebellion against globalism.

Regarding the current state of things, no crap.  You asked for left conspiracies and I gave you plenty, without even mentioning that we are in a thread discussing a topic around which the left has constructed probably the most mainstream conspiracy theory in recent history.  Van stated and you agreed that the republican base is uniquely stupid and that is why the MAGA movement exists/took over the Republican party and you are both wrong.

There are morons everywhere and Trump wasn't the first to cultivate them for the republicans.  He was the one who recognized the fruit was ready to be picked and he had a somewhat unique ability to take advantage of it.  The democratic base is every bit as vulnerable to manipulation as the republican base and we already know there are people/groups/hostile countries working to manipulate them in a more radical direction.

There was a book written about it.  Forgot what it was called.  It was all based on forensics, not on theories/motives/anything like that.   I used to have it here in my office but I'm not seeing it.

I wish I could find Dennis Miller's rant in the late '90's about aliens in his audiobook.

It was something like (paraphrasing)... they can fly millions of light years dodging comets and asteroids - but those New Mexico powerlines are a real b*tch.

I'm just like...between our aliens, gods, Santa, Tooth Fairy and whatever else, we have all these all-powerful beings who are always hidden somewhere.  Come out and say what's up. I bet you have some cool sheet to teach us.

Meh, as I mentioned in the other thread most of the democrats I know watch tv shows and movies, they read books, they have hobbies and interests and don't think much about politics outside of the election cycle. The right wingers I know seem to have no other interests other than watching fox news all night every night. That's why they're more susceptible to manipulation and dopey conspiracy theories.

I'd challenge you here by saying those on the woke/far left are basically as insane as the Fox News crowd. Try spending any time in San Francisco or Portland.

Difference is, they haven't completely co-opted the party the way the lunatics have with the GOP.

Reagan died of natural causes in 2004. Other presidents were shot or shot at (wasn't Ford shot at like 3 times?) after JFK, none were killed. That's my point.

Bro like he was shot. And was on the operating table. And had a lengthy recovery.

You speak as if he was Neo or something.

Also the way the protection detail operates now is proof of the lessons learned. You act like they have the same detail as the 60s.

I would go so far as to say that generally, the far left fringe is the less accepting of the two. I think that keeps them pointing everything right of them as the enemy.

The klansmen from down south will probably accept the Idaho militia, but Code Pink and PETA would brawl.

It’s kind of like in high school English class when certain people show up without doing the homework.  Everyone has access to the information.  Some people just choose to show up and pretend they know as much as everyone else

This is a good point, Alex Jones definitely strikes me as the guy who was the only one doing his homework in school.

That's because the klansmen and the Idaho militia largely have the same broad, albeit regionally specific, goals.  Code Pink and PETA are single issue organizations.  Which is indicative of the right vs. the left in general.  The right usually operates under the same broad ideological umbrella, while the left is issue specific to an obnoxious degree.  It's why the right is so much easier to organize.

The point I made that you cut out certainly is. The fact that it's never been pulled of since is strong evidence to support the argument that only the CIA could of pulled it off.

Bobby was shot by a crazy person, so was Reagan. The pope too. Even Abe recently (technically out of power, but still.) It happens.

What are the far left conspiracies? The gulf war was about oil and not WMD’s? Trickle down economics doesn’t help blue collar workers?

Sure, there are crazies on both sides, but maga has no rival…

Who funded Alex Jones and built his platform?

The "GMOs are the devil" crowd typically skewed left, though my guess is that's balancing out now in the post-covid era.

Anti-vaxers used to be a fairly even mix, but that's obviously a sentiment predominant among the right now.

Just FYI, this is debatable.

Sirhan^2 had pretty defined motives, including a objections to US support of Israel that he thought hinged on RFK. He was also a commie. Granted there's definitely a fine line between insanity and zealotry.

You might be right, but sometimes I hate letting Ds off the hooks for being Ds by saying they're nuts.

He was both. Anyone willing to shamelessly murder an innocent human being based solely on ideological beliefs is a nutjob, imo. It's not meant to excuse their behavior, it's meant as scorn and insult. Those people disgust me.
