ESPN reporting the Colts are hiring Shane Steichen as HC and PFT reports the Cardinals have paused their search until after the Super Bowl so they can focus on Jonathan Gannon.  The Eagles reportedly want to promote QB coach Brian Johnson to OC, which seems like a terrific move, but there doesn't seem to be an heir apparent to Gannon.

Losing outstanding young coaches comes with the territory, but these guys have done great work for this organization and we'll miss them a lot.

A friend just texted me this like 10 min ago

Wish we could have hired Jim Schwartz... Cleveland already took him.

Brian Johnson is already ready to go as OC. And I don’t think too many will be crying about losing Gannon

Shame Fangio didn’t last a couple more weeks

Birds could be losing both coordinators.    Gannon is scheduled to be interviewed by the Cards on Monday.

Colts plan to hire Shane Steichen as head coach

Posted by Josh Alper on February 12, 2023, 11:55 AM EST

The Colts have apparently come to a decision on who they want to be their next head coach.

ESPN reports that the Colts plan to hire Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen after Super Bowl LVII. The Colts have informed other candidates that they are out of the running, but two sides still need to reach agreement on a contract and the Colts know as well as anyone that the last mile can be the most difficult one.

They planned to hire Josh McDaniels as their head coach after Super Bowl LII, but McDaniels opted to remain with the Patriots at the final hour and the Colts pivoted to hire Frank Reich instead. Reich was the Eagles’ offensive coordinator in that Super Bowl win over New England and Steichen will be trying to pull off the same feat against the Chiefs on Sunday.

Sunday morning also brought word that the Cardinals plan to interview Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon for their head coaching opening, so there could be major changes on both sides of the ball for the Eagles heading into next season.

We had to know this was coming with the amount of interest they were getting.  Everyone wants a winner.  Lets go close the deal tonight and worry about it tomorrow.

Gannon is hugely underrated on this board. He’s done a really good job this year.

Couldn’t agree more.  3rd most sacks in NFL history and a secondary that was surprisingly good.

It was bound to happen.

Win tonight, get that 2nd Lombardi, and I don’t care who the Coordinators are for next year!!! 😜

Johnson will go to OC. Brady will take up QB coach. We have reserved on offensive staff.

Best guess for in-house D coordinator is Wilson but they may go outside the organisation.

Can we poach Fangio from the Phins now? 😁

Gannon made it sound like he was staying here. So we'll see what happens, I guess.

Who knows from what you read - but I read that after the Super Bowl, Fangio's flying to Miami to sign his contract.  Which implies that he hasn't signed a contract with Miami yet.

There's a game to be played and other hirings to be played out.  We really don't know for sure how any of this will shake out.

I thought JG said he was staying

We'll see. I think @LacesOut has the right idea. Today is about winning the Super Bowl.

Yup.  Posted an article about this in 411 earlier this morning.  Sure hope we take home the hardware tonight ... never know how well the process will go filling out the staff and how successful they'll be.  We saw Doug have a super hard time making the appropriate hires after his initial staff was poached.

Just focus on the game today. Get the w and worry about next season when the time comes.

Goodbye

Bye Gannon and your late game collapses!

Agreed! Gtfoh! Sadly Gannon coming back

Arrivederci 👋🏽

After what I just witnessed, I will not be missing Gannon. It's not just on him, the players looked undisciplined and confused out there for some reason, but this performance was unforgiveable.

JG can take a long walk off a short pier for all I care. Screw him.

Gannon: bye Felicia!

Steichen: hope Siri convinces him to stay, but they'll promote Johnson & hopefully are fine.
