Yep, 100% agreed.Ā And for the life of me, I can't believe that nobody inside the organization realizes this.Ā Siri reiterated yesterday in his end of season presser that he's "not opposed to change" on the defensive scheme, but that he is adamant about maintaining his core beliefs...prioritize takeaways and limiting explosive plays.Ā The part about limiting explosive plays is why the defense under Gannon played the way they did.Ā They wanted to play coverage and take away the deep stuff...and for the most part it worked in that regard. But the problem is, like you said, a competent QB who is patient can just kill us underneath all day.Ā So perhaps the real problem is Siri imposing his philosophy on the DC.

February 17, 20232 yr If they do end up changing the scheme I would not mind Jerod Mayo. Bill Belichick love Mayo and is Mayo is basically his understudy. Mayo works directly with Bill on defensive game planning. Letās also not forget that the Eagles interviewed Mayo for HC job so they think highly of him as well. Ā I know we would like someone with a ton of experience but that means nothing to be honest. Jim Schwartz had a ton of experience before we got scorched in the SB by Tom Brady. Best defense in the NFL this year was under Demeco Ryanās with little experience. Vance Joseph has been really bad as a DC as of late, go look at their rankings. Not great.

February 19, 20232 yr I'm assuming the Colts under Shane Steichen are keeping Gus Bradley, otherwise he would be a solid choice, almost was HC here before we went with Chip Kelly instead. Gannon did end up taking Rallis as his DC and let Joseph go. Maybe Steichen targets Dennard Wilson or someone? Probably much less likely since there's prior familiarity between Steichen and Bradley and the fact that Bradley is a solid DC.
